Default t3 spec help please?

evening gents

I currently run a t3, it is basically a mk1 rst t3, 45 compressor trim, .42 compressor housing, .36 turbine housing.

I was hoping to rebuild a turbo to the same spec, but with a 50 or 55 trim compressor wheel.

(can anyone advise the small increase in compressor wheel would have any detrimental effect ie added lag? the engine is just under 1.4!)

can anyone tell me please what model used the 50, or a 55 trim compressor wheel as standard? would be nice to get a complete unit with the 50/55 compressor trim spec, with the .36 or a .48 (.36 preferred).

Did any production ford ever use this configuration?

I look forward to hearing from you, regards, Dan

yea, using an A+ block on a 73.5mm overbore (1380). done all the work on the car myself....had see through wings before I started!

hybrided an escort t3 with a metro one. Was just wondering what effects the larger compressor wheel would have in 50 or 55 trim...

Yer prob best mate wouldnt go bigger as the lag would be unreal or you can have the turbo you have on tweaked to your need but i wouldnt go big and spool time will be like 5000 rpm

well that is the plan! next job is to find one in rebuildable condition. anyone got anything lying about that they would part with?

my current one is upgraded over the standard metro turbo one (40 trim compressor wheel, .25 ar exhaust turbine housing). think a step up from 45 trim compressor wheel to 50/55, possibly increase in exhaust turbine housing to .48 from .36 might help. the rs spec one I have at present spins up very quickly.

so anyone got a decent used unit going spare that is suitable for rebuild ie no cracked housings, wheels intact and haven't touched the inside of the housings?

cheers, Dan

have you considered one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turbolader...item43c6029941

should make as much power as an old t3 and have a lot better response, its a t25 flange not t3 but adaptors are available or change manifold flange. from what I can find modern t3 turbos seem abit to big.

its all built on a shoe string so only t3 at present for me. many have used gt series turbos but by the time you buy the turbo, make it fit manifolds etc you are costing yourself a lot of £££ and time.

love the bit 'shove from behind' feel of the t3.

also the fact that you can build a good spec hybrid for not a lot of ££, and do it yourself!

so anyone got an old 2wd cossie unit going spare??? beer tokens waiting
