Default Mk 2 frs at realistic price

After selling my escos with was a stunning car but me originally wanting a frs it had to go but now been looking into frs mk2's and struggling to find any at my budget is there any for sale at realistic prices or is every one just pulling a price out of the air
Do any actually get what there up for or do the drop a big chunk off the asking price
Seen a few but about a grand out of budget for me do I be cheeky and offer or not bother and wait

Well I have never paid asking price for a car but average ones fetch 16-18k and good ones 18-20k and top cars 20k up

I don't mind one with highish miles as long as it's not a catted car
I will be using it as a daily
And I don't really want a modded car just a good honest tidy example

Are people still having problems with rust on these, just thinking if your going to be using it as a daily it might be more prone to getting it. Theres been a few threads on here about it.

It was a stunning escos Glenn but tbh was too uprated for a daily drive I could off changed a few things but I've got a mk2 frs in my head so need to do that really
I've even thought of a rs4 or m3 and even thought of a 325d cab but always coming back to ford lol

the Mk2 will drop it has to, i am looking myself...

Fords when they come up seem to actually sell them cheaper than most other places which is surprising considering it will have a years warranty.

18k for a good one is unrealistic in my opinion at the moment. I did a deal on a white fully loaded mountune one at 21,500 which was the best i could find but pulled out when the dealer started messing around.

i think 20k is where they are at, however i think they must drop, its just a matter of time.

on another note i was pretty underwhelmed with the power but i was really pleased with the way they drive... please enough to own for a bit anyway.

my problem with the escos is i just couldn't get it mint enough, these cars are getting old and if they have fell behind its very hard to get them right again. Mk2 FRS would be easy to get mint though if you buy the right one.

I sold my RS, and bought at ST3, had it mapped and a decat fitted, does everything really well i dont look back at all, nice to have something you can actually use, and not worry about all the time.

if you are considering an m3 or rs4 you would be so much better off with one of those, there just in a completely different leauge to the frs in every way, i speak as someone who has owned or friends and family owned all 3 of the cars. Ive always been a ford man but i really dont rate the frs

Agree with Steve but over the m3 I would have a 335 M sport if you like turbo'd motors

i dont think the M3 is way above a FRS mk2. depends what you want a car for.

driven a few, got to Rev the arse out of them to get them to do anything, FRS looks way better imo. M3 interior is nothing special either, same as my daily for the most part.

Rs4 big and bulky, a family car, FRS allows some tuning if you want, looks good turns way more heads than an RS4 or an M3, at 400hp which is easily achievable and proving to be reliable they are also a quick car.

ive driven all and for the fun grin factor, the tuning potential (stopping boredom) and the head turning looks i would take an RS, and thats even without adding my liking for the RS mark.

Sold my MK2 Focus RS only a few weeks ago after months of advertising but I did want top money for it as it was a excellent standard example.

Great car that I think will be a future classic unlike the M3 or RS4.

i agree, always a matter of opinion i just think too many people automatically assume that no matter what the car is used for if its got a german badge it is automatically better.

we would all say that the R35 GTR (which i was dead set on would be my next car) is a far superior car to a MK2 FRS but look at the autocar video of them driving the 2, it starts to make you think about what we buy these cars to do.

i didnt include the cost of repair also, i think ford have really got it right with reliability now days but when cars do go wrong like they sometimes do i know i would rather own the FRS than either of the german boys when the bill comes in.

video for anyone that hasnt seen it

If it were me i would defo stick with the RS mate. Such a cool motor! I know quite a few people who have had new BM's and they have had nothing but problems. I was chatting to a chap yesterday who had just paid over £1100 for a full service on his M3! That really does take the piss!!!

Servicing costs really arent that bad with the m3 and rs4 from that era from what I experienced from buying a decent car in the first place. Obviously some costs are going to be more the german stuff is twice the money to buy new, but you get what you pay for. Bits are expensive for the rs's too, we repaired sone damage on one a wing mirror was approx £350, a front wing was £350-400 odd and a shit shield (which is an appallingly shit piece of manafacturing and is literally two st sheilds riveted together) is £250

A mate of mine bought a high mileage Mk2 Focus RS that was HPI clear for £13,000 so they are out there.

I much prefer the way an M3 drives personally though.

the 2 issues I see about buying German stuff is the service and part replacement costs along with price depreciation over the rs .If the prices do sink further though ill be selling the cossie as I would love a frs ml2

Do people really think these will be future classics?

They're ok, quite liked the drives I've had in them. I don't however see them being a classic. Bit like a lot of modern fast cars, there's no real effort in them. Just mass produced, good cars. All fake vents, cheap brakes and plastic these days. Was looking under the bonnet of a Golf R the other day, jees they could have made an effort.

I did like the Mk2 RS but after getting up close round one the touches just aren't there, fake vents under lights, sliding calipers, really naff carbon look, very boring under the bonnet etc etc.

Not saying it's a bad car, just strikes me as a very superficial piece for the disposable generation.

Not classics to a generation that grew up with rally legends no but to the generation now growing up with them that youth that has a poster on his wall thats says to himself "one day i.ll own one" thats what we are i never thought rs.s would be classics i used to see them dumped stripped burnt out everywhere as a kid had a mk1 mexico at 14 totally mint drove it to a rave blew the engine and sold it for £250 do you know how many times ive said to myself if only lol thing is it wasnt a classic and how would i ever have known it would be? You just dont know mate

95,000 miles? I did the same with my mk1 RS. Bought it at 5 years old with 95k on it for less than £9k when all the other mk1 RS's were £13-14k.

Was a bit nervous about it at the time but it's been fantastic, lots of miles = lots of looking after, 6 years later and nearly 120k it's been 100% reliable. Don't expect to sell in a hurry if you don't like it, and I wouldn't be paying much more than 15k for it
