Default What fun, fast car for around £15,000?

Currently got a BMW 135i with 360hp that ticks a lot of boxes, but I'm considering getting something else.

Needs to be pretty modern, fast, respectable and fun. I prefer smaller cars and it has to be half decent on fuel as I do a fair bit of mileage.

I keep looking at a Porsche Cayman 3.4S, which seems the likely candidate, though I quite like the idea of an Elise but for my budget I can only get a 111S and they don't seem that fast on paper. Anyone had experience with one? Or can suggest something else?

I would go for the Elise. They're far better in reality than the paper figures suggest as they're far more raw.

Or BMW Z4 M Roadster (or coupe). Low volume M car which will hold its value and appreciate over time.

Thanks, that's what I thought may be the case. Also, I've noticed I could stretch to a 111r, which seem a lot better.

I've driven a Z4 M and didn't actually think of that. Great car and incredible throttle response, wonder what they go for...

Dont the z4m's have the m3 CSL engine in them? they are fun and fast, ive driven a relatives many times and took a mate out in it once whos into cars and he was well impressed. However not my cup of tee, the throttle response is very good, heavy clutch tho, can be a little jumpy in first in traffic too. The 135i you have now tho is a quick car with more power so probably similar in performace, the 135 is a real nice car lovely look and the torque is effortless. Tough car replace and its rwd,

As said hard to replace the 135i, we have just bought the new M135i and they are an awesome car, but as you say about mpg it can still average 40+ mpg on a run and about 35mpg pottering about. Great just knowing that in an instance you have super car performance there.
