Yes ,I had one number 0007 but they only made about 960 of them,so it was 007 to me,good car no lag just instant power ,not a real animal,Sierras more of a handful, there was one time going sideways on a motorway bend at about 115 mph,the cars did have a lot of common faults, which I had, running very rich it made 395 bhp and 475 ib torque run a 13.1 at pod ,car long gone still would have another, cossy is more fun

1990 - first married holiday, camping in Norfolk. Had a trip to Hethel to have my photo taken outside of the Lotus factory and spotted numerous Carltons, in various states of modification, all lined up next to different factory units - looked awesome .

About 15 years ago, I used to drive my brother to work in the morning while he had his car off the road for modding, and most mornings would stop in to Maccy D's for breakfast, and everyday without fail there was a Lotus Carlton in the carpark. Owner was a guy in a business suit, drinking coffee and reading the paper, I'd say early 40's max, poss late 30's. Same time every day - if we were late we'd see it leaving, if we were early we'd see it arrive, and if we didn't stop we could usually see it in the car park as we drove past.
Never noticed him boot it or drive it hard (we'd only ever see it driving for about 30 seconds 'til it went round the corner and out of sight) but you'd hear it start up every time. Lovely car.

It's only a 2 owner car and I believe that the first owner was a London banker who lived in Bedford. I would have to check the receipts to find his name.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I remember reading an article about them in car magazine back in the day and they tried to max one out on the autobahn but they kept running out of clear road and clean undercrackers haha

Always been a fan of these,
always used to be one parked up outside the cue ball snooker club in dagenham back in the day, was allways about, guess it was the owners.

Ive got a magazine about a lotus carton campared against a saff 4x4 cossie. The same bloke owned them both. The editor of the mag prefered the saff. He said it was easier to live with. He said something about the clutch on the carton been to heavy? And a safd cossie clutch isnt lol.

There's been rumors of a few big bhp cars over in Finland, but I've never found anything.
