Default Absolutely disgusted with the RAC

my car key for my Vauxhall zafira some how snapped in my pocket so I called upon the RAC. I told them what had happened and they asked a few questions one of the question is the car accessible which I replied yes I'm in the car now and also told them you can gain access to the front of the car no one in front of me if you need to tow the car.

An hour later a flat bed turned up to recover me, but because my wheels were approximately off set by 10 degrees the recover driver insisted in use specialist access equipment two bit of plastic to help the front wheels slide on the road which he didn't need to use if he'd parked closer to my car.

Once my front wheels were on the flatbed he had to use a pulley so that he could drag my car over to one side as my wheels had a slight turn. This has resulted in me having to pay an additional fee of £108 for this service and I was 3 roads from my house about 700meters away.

I called the RAC to express my opinion about the extra cost and they told me to ask there contractor if they would drop the price which I reply I have a membership with you not them I then asked why wouldn't you of sent a spec truck then I wouldn't of need to pay specialist access costs which she didn't have an answer for.

I'm so pissed off with them and will be cancelling my membership

That's a fucking joke! It's no extra work to pulley it.

I'm cancelling my membership soon. £9 a month to £13 a month.

Dont blame you for being pissed off! If you have breakdown, recovery and home start in your membership it is up to them to get you recovered with no hidden extra cost. It looked like a straight forward job to me ,why did the recovery truck park so far from your car?

What a rip off! Clearly used the 'specialist equipment' to make money off you, can't you just refuse to pay or have you already?

Assume there was no spare key at your house 3 streets away??

don’t know why mate, probably to justify using the plastic skates to shift the car over, which he didn’t need to use if he pulled up closer.

Just spoken to an AA patrol man who lives on my road he said sounds like there pulling a fast one. He said they have the same problems with their contractors and lots of AA customers now request for AA patrol people only. He also said that the system they have on their vans CRT would have done the job

i'm fuming joined twitter to express my fustration

Threaten to, or just go to the press, bet you'll get a refund then, once a bit of bad press highlighting a blatant rip off is on the cards!

198 pounds lol fuck that! Last night I did a brake down on a tufnels cf75 fully loaded the clutch pack had gone. Did not have one couldn't get one. It got recovered from Newbury to tufnels in Bristol for un loading then from there on to imperial commercials in Bristol. That only cost 598
