At least with a crate engine, it's brand new, you cant really go wrong.

Only additional expenses will be ancillaries and making it fit. If you cant do the work yourself, it really would be worth giving Craig a shout.
It'd just save a lot of grief as he's done loads so knows the ins and outs for a smooth swap.
He can fabricate exhaust manifolds or any other awkward parts, basically do almost everything in one place.

i think it should fit handy enough and the gearbox tunnel is massive in th 3dr aswell so shouldnt be a problem either i hope lol
i see you can buy the full gm ecu and loom for 750 if you buy it with the engine which would be great

Yea, these places sell complete wiring looms either OEM type or for easy install conversions.
Certainly it can make life easier and you know tuning is all good.

But I'd still be inclined to go the route of an aftermarket ecu anyway. Just to make it easier for more places to tune locally, and it will be a little more versatile.

You can't go wrong with these EMU ecu's now mate that's what Craig is fitting to all his latest builds and hence why I've got one on the 3 Door.

EMU that Polish one ?

Would be nice for it to offer sequential for an 8cyl, but it is certainly not essential for most builds.
Dont think the Emerald's ever did either anyway.

Spec does look a bit better than the emerald though.

Ye that's the one, the fella who makes them has excellent customer service and his English is better than some English people lol.
He's always happy to help and is constantly developing it he brings out new firmware every other week with tweeks and mods.
Although the English version of the website could do with updating the ECU has a lot more features than whats listed on there.
I'm changing over to DBW over the winter another excellent feature of the EMU you can't go wrong for the price.

Does it do DBW onboard with no extra bits ?

Seems a little short on inputs and outputs for that ?

Typically most DBW's will sap up 4 inputs alone for the foot pedal tracks and blade position tracks, nevermind the output to actually drive it.

You get another little DBW add on box which plugs into a port on the main ECU, I currently have my Bluetooth adaptor plugged into it but you just daisy chain it in, you get another box for CANBUS control if you need that too but they all daisy chain together so you could run all 3 if you want.
When the GEN 2 ECU comes out next year all this will be packaged into main the ECU, but I like the way it's been done so you can modify an original ECU and you don't have to go to the expense of a whole new one.

V8 James.. V8 James... You know you want to!
Just factor in all the (different) ancillaries you'll need though like rad, starter, mounts, pipe work, exhaust, perhaps PAS pump etc too..
It does add up after a while and is generally more expensive than the more readily available YB stuff.
I like the look of an alloy LS though. The weight saving over a similar iron block must be well worth it.
Cheers
Iain
