3 door cosworth prices dropping?...
The market for these cars seems slow at the moment,
Are they actually dropping in price?..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ford-sierr...p2047675.l2557
Someone said they above one has been on lots of times and went for around £9k the other night?...
Also lots that go on seem to be for sale for a long while...
Maybe its just a result of not many people having money at the mo?...

There are quality 3drs for sale at moment but think money is tight for people and it a enthusiast that will buy a 25year old car but most people fancy a newer jap performance daily driver opposed to a cossie as a cossie isn't a daily runner

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I think the market for them will cool a little, so you should start seeing some more realistic prices soon

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Prices always dip towards the end if the year, best time to buy around xmas, not a cossie I know but a work colleague bought a 1991 mini with 1275 engine. Rot free, for £1200 last Xmas, will triple his money when he sells it.

Cossies are very tempting and I will end up with one, on the look out for a mk2 focus RS at the moment, they've really held their prices, just hoping they don't drop like a stone when I buy!

I think good cars will always make good money, and rough ones can often be overpriced when you consider what you need to spend on them to get then to a decent standard. I just paid 17k for a 3 door but its a very very nice car which is well known with good spec, i decided to spend more on one that was nice rather than pay 12-13k for a car that was rotten, low spec, untidy and with knackerd engines. I looked at literally 10 cars before i brought mine and all i was schocked at the state of some that i saw, they just shouldnt of been on the road

Dead simple buy a 3dr for £11k and see what you get - spend £15k and you have a mildly tuned car or std but honest miles - around £20k your getting a nice little motor either very well spec'd or std with low miles and excellent parts.
For said 3dr £11k in my eyes has got the new owner a heap of forthcoming work, check out the inner wing on the n/s and the strut housing on the o/s

This it Chris tbh a couple of years ago i would never of thought the value of all cossies would be like this but true value for clean cars are staggering but most who own rough ones still believe they hve a car of value ! A closure look at the ebay 3 door in true form thats a 8 k car as it would probably cost 4k+ to get the body right before anything else so you might as well save more money to not have the grief and heart ache of doing a massive project and buy a good one to start with

I done enough project cars now as have many older lads to know that it's more cost effective to start with a very good one as it's cheaper in the long run - the other thing is the 3dr parts that are for sale on the market second hand are all average condition and not worth the over inflated prices being asked

Maybe the market it settling? Seen the 20k ones one ebay are still there. Seen one of 2 tidy ones go for the 13odd mark which I reckon is about fair, for 15+ I'd want it to be a very special car. TBH for that money I'd rather get an escort cos.

must have sold mine at the wrong time then last year if people think that is worth decent money mine was low mileage had never been welded nor did it need any was all painted and powdercoated underneath and had all genuine rs500 bumper and upper and lower spoilers uncracked dash etc... and it was for sale for a year before i took 11k for it!
maybe most people are starting to see they are not realistically worth that much because as much as i love cossies and would have another they are not that really good of a car lol

Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
3 door
There has not been a mint 3 door cosworth for sale for a while now.
The last really nice car that I have seen for sale was Pete,s XRB and that was a couple of years ago.
If a mint car did come up for sale it would make very good money. I have been offered very strong money for mine over the years but it is not for sale.

Also folk are keeping hold of them for investment purposes.
The thread title is rather misleading because if the one discussed sold for 11k then prices are not dropping as it wasn't the best ?

A good 3dr will always command the money, but there are few and far between.
Too many not so good examples demanding top money, and agree with a few comments above, there are some right sheds out there not worth half of the asking price.
But low mile, low owners with good history and spec will always fetch a premium.
I know of a lovely low owner/low mileage 3dr that is price around the £20k mark.

i think people are prepared to spend a lot more money on propper Sapphires now,
it wasnt so long ago i linked a £10k saff here and was laughed off,
a car is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it!!
i gave £2000 for a 44,000 mile 1.6 sapphire Azura a few months ago blind,
i wanted it so i bought it, simple as that.
i would have paid 5.5k for a silver standard saff cos 2 weeks ago but the lad was a complete messer, didnt return messages etc and said the couldnt be viewed for 7 days as it want ready..........
again i would have bought it blind as i wanted it!
3drs, i think people like me want one, theres not many about so buy what they think they are valued at
just my 2p worth

3 door prices are still doing very well
the problem is the same for 3 doors as all other cossies , people see top examples advertised for strong money so they assume there 7k car is worth the same as the 17k cars and so you see loads of overpriced scrap , so again people see overpriced scrap and advertise there scrap at the same stupid price
the problem with the rs scene at the moment is people see these overpriced cars being advertised by all these dealers that seem to have poped up everywhere and " assume " these cars sell for these over inflated prices when the actually dont sell for that price or dont sell at all
People also are quick to jump on adverts telling the seller that there car is far to cheap , when realy its not and the seller ups the price then cant shift it
rs500 prices have done very very well over the last few years but there is a reason for that and i think all other cossie owners are trying to frig the market for there marque and its not working
Any car is only worth what a buyer will pay and what they think its worth
the market will settle soon when these new dealers realise that they wont get these stupid prices for there cars
I went to view a rs500 for a customer on friday ( at a dealers ) , well overpriced and not as nice as described , no wonder its been for sale for so long
Having said that i think the whole cossie range has seen prices rise for top end examples and i think they will all do well , we just need to get 90% of the owners of the overpriced scrap to get real and it will make buying a good cossie a lot less hassle , lol

paul are you saying that every other cossie is trying to piggy back off the overinflated rs500 prices ?

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
And that incl" parts to.
Now if I can make it I will as people want not only silly money for the cars
But also the parts
I saw a 3dr shell for sale a little while ago for 10k .
But when another bloke put a new escort coz shell up for 3.5k
With papers it highlight how over priced the 3dr sierra shell may well be
