Exactly ,

rs500s have been going up and up for the last 6/7 years as they have become a must have for serious collectors that have unlimited amount of money to spend , and there is nothing we can do about it , great news for owners but bad news for anyone wanting to buy one

then all of a sudden there seemed to be a mass of dealers getting into the RS scene and trying to push up prices of all other rs marques and this is starting to make everyone over value there cars

Dont get me wrong any RS thats at the top of there marque will always demand top money and there are buyers for them top cars , but we are seeing shitters advertised at just stupid money

i think this will level itself out soon and it will get back to normal and let the good cars demend the good money

a stunning looking car but FFS

it is a shame that the 500 has gone out of reach of people with limited amounts of money paul,or choose other ways to spend it

have to agree about dealers jumping on a bandwagon that most of them dont understand ,or care about.
as you say this does create a false dawn for poor or mediocre cars.

the surprise for me is how the escos market has overtaken the 3dr market pricewise over the last year or so,not that it shouldnt lol

that saff is about 10k overpriced imo ,but a cracking car all the same

That saff does look stunning , and if i wanted a saff it ticks all the boxes , but 25k ,,

I think we would all like to see the whole RS range go up in value , but these dealers who dont realy understand the market arnt doing the brand any favours at all

The escoss do seem to have done well , altho a lot that are for sale are for a very long time at those high prices , plus just because its advertised at a price doesnt mean it actually sold for that price

The escoss does seem to have done better than most tho , great news again for the owners of these great cars

paul i for one wouldnt like prices to rise any further as its killing our scene ,as cars tend to be parked up more and more. its leaving the scene getting quieter by the year .
its like rising house prices ,its mostly false economy and something to talk about down the pub
the more you sell for the more you spend to buy again so a vicous circle

I think all fords, particularly rs models are slightly overinflated but like anything else you get what you pay for.
It worked out better for me in the end to buy another shell to build up rather than chase a rotten one so I can certainly see the point of buying better too start with hence good examples going for good money.
Still found myself spending thousands so far on bits and bobs because like anything else once you start to build it there seems no point in scrimping on bearings, hoses, bolts etc but it all adds up!!!

Default 3 door

I think it would be harder to find a mint low mileage 3 door than a mint low mileage RS500.
The RS500 tend to be lower mileage and better looked after as they were rare and tend to have been tucked away.
I have had my 3 door nearly 10 years and although they may have went up in value in that time. But like other people have said they are only worth what a buyer is willing to pay and a seller is happy to take.
