Default Is this worth restoring? Rs trubo

Hi all. Was just wondering what you think of this?
It was pulled out of a barn along with my rs2000 about 4/5months ago.
But due to my mum having no car the rs turbo got left to one side as we got the xr3i on the road. Its even had parts taken of it to make the xr3 run.
Now i am begging my dad to restore it. I keep telling him that the way 2 door escort and rs ford prices are going up by the time your done with it he could make some good money on it.
But he just whats to scrap it or strip it for parts. The biggest problem with the car is its had a leaky sun roof and the roof is just rotten. But we have a mk4 escort we use ford spares so can we not take the roof of that?
Any way i will leave it to the PF judges. It would be nice if i can get him round to fix it up.

All depends how badly you want it, how bad it is and how much you have too sort it the main area's too check for rot/rust scuttle panel, sunroof, battery tray, slam panel, floor pans and bulk head! And the body kis usually hide many horrors! It also depends on history of car and price you get it for really.

As i said the worst bit it the roof. Apart from that battry tray is gone. The car runs and drives but just over heats. The thing is he likes rs turbo's it's just convencing him to do it. once he's does it i think he will enjoy it.

You need to go over it - properly - and see what else needs doing, check the chassis rails very carefully indeed.

Bare shell the car and then if it's fucked u can sell all the parts? If it's not so bad then it's ready for the restoration

Looks like a baggy old rs turbo from the pics,it's lhd too so what's the market like for lhd escorts in France?
An original car will always be worth more than 1 that's had every panel replaced and I'd run a mile from a car that's had a roof so I'd say your dads right.

of course in time it will be worth money as all are fords are but its a long way off and plenty about to choose from for all budgets, so unless you can weld or fabricate metal yourself break it

Get the body kit off sand see what's hiding underneath, if there's plenty of solid metal, save it.

My advise would be to strip it totally and see where you stand. If it's too bad it's already in bits to sell on.

Mileage/owners/history plays a contributing factor.

If it was a S1 it would be a yes regardless for me.

*edited to say needing a roof skin pretty much means a kiss of death for that shell.
