Default Zetec into mk4 - few question..help needed - in Essex

Hi,

Putting a 2l zetec into a mk4. Bought and broke a mk2 mondeo for all the parts. Engine is in ( it was previously a carb'd 2l zetec but it bit the dust)

Wiring - anyone in Essex able to do it? how much! Previously it was on the FORD esc system. The carb ( pinto inlet) I had on and adaptor plate are all on ebaya, I want it efi and reliable for the missus. I have allt he looms etc.. just no idea / confidence.. one part id rather leave to someone whos done it before.

Inlet - the mk2 mondeo plastic one touched the braking bar at the back - best and cheapest inlet to use?

Water pipe - The pie that goes form the pump to the bottom rad; now the alternator is right below it, its a pian to get it to fit - is there another pipe I can use? Or cut and shut?

Thank you!!!!

you use the fiesta rs1800 inlet also on mk5 esc xr3i,(130hp) and early mondeo
its an ally inlet
check out zetecinside, on google or xr2.com
there may be a few zetec conversion topics on here

Its pretty simple to do the loom bud cant remember exactly as its been a while, from memory you only need the engine loom for engine your using along with ecu,key and the pats wiring and sensor that goes around ignition then its a case of running a few lives and earths for crank sensor etc

but either way even if you can get majority done and then get auto electrician or fellow enthusiast on here to come round run the wires and give them a drink! I'm same as you can do anything mechanical but wiring is a mind fuck.....

Presume its a blacktop engine? The bottom hose I cut and shut with a hose joiner an a new angled hose from autosilicone hoses, then I used a self sealing hose takeoff by revotec iirc to link the pipe to the header tank. Took a lot of head scratching to get it sitting nice. What alternator set up are you using?

I have a focus rs inlet on mine, its close to the brake bar but its not touching.

As I said bud you need those bits and have to use them (ecu is immobolised) unless you went aftermarket management root then you could ditch it. Also like I said its not a lot of wires I presume you have whole car loom? you only need the engine loom and pats to ignition!

What you need to do mate
Is get hold of a non-pats early zetec loom
And use a deep or desk coded ecu .
Me and my mates have done loads of conversions in the past.

Or

Rs1800 non pats loom
This has an edis module where as the mondeo doesn't.

Ignition is controlled within a mondeo ecu
First and escort are external .

Get a HO inlet manifold this has a big throttle body (same size as 2litre)
Or you can use a SO manifold if you can't find the HO

These are the Ali ones with efi marked on the top if you didn't know .

What you need to know?
I can probably help you out.

cheers for the replies!!! its a silver top. The car was an R reg.

I am using the mondeo alternator which is hanging on a bracket at the front.

thank you for the guide - ill have a read of that.

Luke - I will pm you mate.. I was hoping to reuse the mondeo wiring as Ive have had to spend so much on this little motor so far ( last owner was a grade a cunt) so I am hoping I don't have ot buy too much more :/ bad attitude for doing stuff to cars but its on the brink of being a money pit before its done 100 miles lol
