Who has had work done to there YB cosworth 205 block? Hone? Engine Paint etc
Basically a follow on from my engine build thread seen here,
https://passionford.com/forum/techni...ml#post6510681
Ive finally got hold of a yb engine and I want to strip it down and rebuild it. I think the block needs a hone to give it extra life so who should I take it too to get the work done?
I also want to get the block powder coated and ive also herd about internal engine paint to keep the oil from sticking to the inside of the block, is that worth considering?
thanks matty

If your not exactly knowing what your doing dont even strip the engine I would say unless of course you really want too and 'experiment ' on a YBB let a pro find and discover whats going on etc etc. Many things can arise we wouldn't even consider like spark erosion work from a snapped head stud for examle.
Is the crank straight the list can go on and does go on if done properly. Using the correct bearings and torque settings is vital.
Personally I would ring around and see whats on offer from the likes of SCS , M.A Devolpments, Turbosystems all respected in this field .
plenty others too.

Ideally I just want someone to check the bores, faces and crank to give everything the A OK before i put it back together. If i went to a specialist ill get charged lol

You'll get charged of course lol........ Its not that expensive to have said work done. You need to chat with a few get some concrete ideas building any engine isn't as easy as it seems if done PROPERLY.
It wont be cheap if you get it wrong and will cost MORE in the long game...
Mike.
