Ceramic coated exhaust housings & manifolds
Hi,
Has anyone had their standard 2wd Cosworth exhaust manifold and/or turbo exhaust housing ceramic coated? What was your experience with it? Did it last? Did it have any adverse affects on the casting? Was there any noticable performance gains? Did under bonnet temps drop noticably? How did it affect the life of the turbo?
We have a company down here in NZ called HPC coatings and they do a coating for turbo applications called Hypercoat Extreme. They claim it withstands more than 1300 degrees c. Is it a good idea or bad idea. I had traditionally understood it was good to let the heat radiate and then sheild around it but the ol' Cossie gets pretty hot under the hood.

I have a mate who is an ex Garrett engineer and he warns against coating the turbo ex housing they keep too much heat in and cause issues with the castings
