I wouldn't mind getting my car detailed, machine polish a good waxing and a good wet wash on the seats, does anyone know a good place up here and how much do you think it would cost, I would prefer in sunderland if possible.

I'd say get to your local Halfords (got a 3 for 2 offer on cleaning gear) and have a crack yourself!

i wouldnt know where to start or what to buy, and if i try to machine polish and get it wrong it wrecks the paint doesnt it.

Well, start off by getting a good shampoo, a couple of buckets (preferably with a grit guard in one of them), and a nice wash mitt. Then get a few microfiber cloths for buffing), some polish and a clay kit is always a good investment. That should get you started. Great results can be had just by giving a good wash with the 2 bucket method and the like.
