I need to pick up a van 3 hours away.

Recovery is not an option to much £££ so I'm wondering if I can use my 3.5 ton work transit to tow with an A frame, a renault trafic which is obviously a lot smaller & lighter.

Can't find nothing really on google.

Any ideas?

No. You can only legally use a a frame for recovery.

I think the law is that you cant tow an unbraked trailer over 750kg, and using an a frame is classed as making the vehicle a trailer.

Unless as above, they can be used for recovery, and that's classed as removing a broken down vehicle from a dangerous place, but no furthur

Where abouts is it? I'm coming to London sat to pick a new car up with the trailer, coming from South Wales.

Legally no you cannot use an A-frame for the transportation of vehicles around, unless the total weight of the vehicle and the a-frame is under 750kg, or the vehicle is modified so that the brakes work when on the a-frame (tenuous legality then)
