My car is having a bit of a makeover at the moment, so I will soon be turning to the interior side of things once the bodywork is complete.

The photos above are of the 'police spec' recaro interior which I have always loved, but unfortuantely is rare to come by, and especially in useable condition. Anyway my latest idea is to remove the leather from my car and buy a tired set of seats that I can use to try and replicate the police seats.

I appreciate that information on the material type and colour is pretty much impossible to come by, but I thought I would start this thread to see if I can possibly dig up something that would help, not only about the seats themselves, but where/who could achieve something of this quality. I don't plan to try and get Recaro to build me a set, which admittedly would be nice, but even some contact information of anyone from that company to speak to would be kind of nice to see if they can help in any way at all.

I like leather and cloth trim, but trying to get a good set these days that I would ever be happy with for me would be just as difficult as getting a full retrim, and if i'm going to go down that route I'd rather it was something a bit subtle but special looking.

The ones that were posted on this thread then removed by 'someone' but its sorted now, luckily I saw their reply before it vanished.
Thanks for your tip-off regarding the standard ones on the other forum, I did follow up but the seller never replied so I presume they are sold, I'm not surprised given the price he was asking!

Suppose they would need to be more resistant to lots of getting in/out, coffee spills and donut crumbs!?

Hah more than likely! I have no idea why they were different, it seems a little odd, it might have been been a low cost option over the normal cloth and leather.

I had mine retrimed from nackered old cloth recaros to spanking new sponge/leather look by a one eyed guy in Herne bay cost me Ł250 for both front seats but look the nuts
(Check my 4i thread)
So just find cheap set and find good upholsterer to sort you a one off set

Yeah my intention was to get an old set of seats cheap and get them retrimmed in dark cloth similar to the police spec seats, for something a little different to the norm.

Anyway I'm glad to report that I've now agreed a deal on a set of genuine ex-police recaros (front & rear) and I won't need to go down the retrim route.

I did contact that guy, maybe he's rubbish at replying to people, they seem like really good seats for Ł50-Ł60 or whatever it was he was asking, it was too cheap IMO. Scored in the end becuse I would've ended up with with a set of seats I didn't need!

The seller sent me some photos of the seats, I thought I would post this one of the rears since photos of them seem to be pretty scarce (I hope he doesn't mind since I haven't collected them yet).

Agreed, I've had the car for 13 years and only now have I got around to changing the seats, but it's been on my 'to-do' list for a long time.

Glenn, I had no idea what the rears looked like, so I was genuinely surprised when I saw the photo. I'd looked on Google for photos of them before and couldn't find any so it was nice to finally see them.

Will be a long way off but I'll post pics when it is in the car, i still haven't got it back from the bodyshop, I don't know if it's in paint yet or not.

I'm home on friday so will post an update of the bodywork when I get a chance to swing in by the bodyshop, I left the leather in the car, it'll be white by now so just aswell I'll be able to swap it out with these.

As for the comments about people on the back seats, for mine that is very appropriate, and that's before I change them

Odd, i'll confirm when I see them but I doubt it. The door cards are rainbow in all the police car saphs i've ever seen, so that makes sense.

I contacted Recaro, didn't expect to get a response, but I took a long time to type out a very nice and informative piece stating that I would like information and how i appreciated that they wouldn't normally deal with queriies of my nature, surprisingly they didn't reply......

That does kinda annoys me though, even a half assed email saying they can't help would've been the professional thing to do as i'd clearly put a lot of time into what I'd sent them.

The reg i used was k388 OJR a car that now may be dead. This car brings up another menu that has all the spec fitted. Some saphs don't bring that list up
It may also be worth speaking to Fords SVP department as they do conversions for the likes of merseyside police etc. Most ford police cars will have a svp sticker on the drivers b post
