Question FIESTA TURBO throttle body to ROVER Manifold?'*

Anyone know how to do this, thought i'd mount up the focus 1.8 throttle body to it the other day.. that clearly wasn't going to be simple, especially with that silly bypass section. Waste of horses!

Anyone modified the Rover Mani to fit a Ford TB?? What's involved?!

Had to cut the throat short and have a plate welded onto mine to fit round the mk2 fiesta servo (non xr2). Seemed to work ok at the time in 1999!! But there are better proven options out there now.

From memory, a Cosworth throttle body is the same bolt pattern as a Rover throttle body.

Frst throttle body has a different bolt pattern. One bolt is offset from square.

Seems like a huge waste for me to cut that away.. trying to think of a solution to fit a throttle body to it.. Perhaps a square plate screwed to the face and then 4 holes drilled for a different TB

They come with a big rubber block that bolts to the 3 bolt manifold flange, and has a 4 bolt fixing for the tb. As above it is not the same as a frst tb pattern. Also the n/a plenum is better as its larger than the turbo one. (don't ask me why as i did mine around 15 yrs ago now and i cannot remember the reason.)

It might be worth firing an email off to these guys

http://www.mda-motorsport.co.uk/zetectuning.html

They may sell you the plate you need on its own.

Mark.

Pretty sure i recall the rs1800 one flows better than the rover, fits direct to the head with no adaptor. BUT can cause issues with getting the boost pipe over or around the rocker cover.

Oh really, I might have to stick to the RS1800 one then

This is how I have my set up at the minute

Brian, don't quote me on that, i did my mk2 zt almost 14 yrs ago now, i did mine for cost saving mainly after Ian Howell first discovered they almost matched the port spacing. Iirc the rs inlet flowed slightly more but they were hard to get hold of back then. Again don't quote me on it.

Can't you use the standard focus inlet?

I have bought all of this lot so bit reluctant to change but tbh i'm very tempted..
Know anyone that is interested in this lot?
I'll throw in a rover Regulator, plastic rail, all the manifold with adaptor plate fitted and 4 rover red band injectors and loom.

Decided on using the STD Focus inlet it's just less problematic.. Slightly dubious about the tightness of the seal around the Charcoal canister pipe going into the manifold being air tight under boost.
Does anyone know where I can get a focus RS rail (if different at all) without paying silly money.. and maybe a nice injector setup, not really happy using the rover red bands to be honest.. old technology!

I am building a Rover inlet for my zetec blacktop at the moment.

The standard focus mk1 fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, and injectors are a straight fit. I needed to cut a little of the manifold where the fuel pressure regulator was sitting to line up the injectors properly. You need to fix two small brackets to secure the fuel rail to the manifold.

now I am at the point where I need to fit a throttle body and ICSV. I will use a Focus/Mondeo/Escort ICSV with an adapter plate welded onto the TB.

The standard focus TB , and Mondeo one's, have got the air bypass section. If I TIG weld an adapter plate onto the manifold and bolt the TB on it, I cannot use this air bypass hole because it is blocked. (opening it up is not an option because the hole will sit outside the manifold's intake pipe. People say that the Fiesta Turbo one can be used. They are rare in the Netherlands, so that is not an option ATM.

My questions to solve this problem are:

1. If I am running a vacuum hose from the manifold to the inlet traject (bypass the TB), I would create the same situation as when the air bypass hole in the TB is working, right? I guess it is just to bypass the butterfly valve.

2. The air bypass 'intake' hole is above the butterfly valve in the TB. If I drill a hole underneath the butterfly valve I have created myself an air bypass as well.

What is your opinion about this?
