I really love these and I can see my £5000 bonus in may going towards one with the cossie as well.
Does £8000 get you something decent?
Big power doesn't interest me,300bhp is fine, more into just a nice coloured clean motor with big wheels cos I'm sad!!!

£8000 would get you a very nice stock or stage 1 r33 gtr for sure.
a nice r32 gtr can be had even cheaper. they are great cars the gtrs.

lol

ive had a little practice the only half decent start i got the gtech didnt pick up the speed properly
the green run was my last go, the clutch is a triple and a pig to get used to, but i managed to get of the line but there was a big jerk on takeoff and its scewed the gsensor, the speeds of the black run are bang on as i watched exactly when i shifted 80 mph in second, and 120 mph in third, the green run i shifted exactly the same but its underread as it got behind at the start.
ideally i need a meter that uses gps aswell i think, if only the green run had kept on the gs it would of been a good run, 11s in the 120s for sure, i saw over 130 mph but the gtech shows peak of 115 stupid thing !

i just need to get a in gear speed comp to the supra im gonna check now .....
its difficult to compare as the gearing is massivly different so shift points intertwine everywhere.
but in gear with no shift i have
supra 70 - 80 mph 0.768 seconds r33 gtr 70 - 80mph 0.794 seconds
supra 100 - 110 mph 0.938 seconds r33 gtr 100 - 110 mph 1.153 seconds
supra 60 - 100 mph 3.889 seconds 1 shift r33 gtr 60 - 100 mph 4.422 seconds 1 shift
supra was running 2.05 bar, the r33 gtr is holding 1.5 bar, with the supra at 2 bar boost it should be fairly close.
i just need some practice now with such a tall first gear launching is gonna need some practice lol.

and 5th gear is 49 mph at 2000 rpm so 196 at 8000 rpm so thankfully it has stock fifth ratio, im not sure yet if i like these gear ratios or not, i may sell the box and get a getrag r34 6 speed, my box
should be worth a few quid being os giken gear kit.

lol ive only just got it mate im not gonna just launch it straight of the limiter it might break something, i need to get a feel for the cliutch and gearbox first.
i realised last night why the gtech isnt reading accurately, i didnt set the pitch factor on it and because it doesnt squat that much (nowhere near as much as the supra) the gtech isnt calculateing speed correctly from the accelerometer.
the first 2 runs were only closer because i also forgot to 0 in the meter so i must of been showing so forward gs when i was stationary that compensated for the pitch factor.
to be fair i was trying to see in gear on the move with trying to launch at 4000 rpm half throttle, it will need launching at 7000 rpm foot on the boards and it will get in the 3s to 60 like my old one.
i nearly bought a performace box but i resisted they cost £550 ! ouch

Love the r32's as well but these really do it for me.
Can see this being on the shopping list after the cossie!!!
Gonna finish that now as I'm 2 on 3 off, plenty of time and money to finish it.

they are awesome mate.
ive got it on the ramp again lol
after the other nights escapades i heard some slight chuffing on cold start up so ive took the turbo and exhaust manifold right off now.

the reason the rear manifold stud snapped is because the manifold is warped !
ports 2 - 5 are all flat but 1 and 6 are approx 3mm out !
im gonna get it faced keeping square to the centre ports until its flat, it maybe 4mm by the time there done !
its not great as the plate that bolts to the head will obviously be thinner but i dont see what other options i have ?

Had the same problem on my 450 SEL, rearstud snapped and it's the only one you can't get to without removing the head!

What a bastard...

Anyway: weld it up (TIG the neatest but transfers most heat) and the have it skimmed untill it's straight! Works a treat!

i bought a dewalt right angle drill and managed to drill enough to get a new bigger stud in

im afraid if i dont get the warping fixed it will just brake my new stud, i guess thats another option weld up 1 and 6 and just have them faced down to the rest.

I got out the angled drill as well but there was so little room I had to get underneath the car to point the drill whilst my mate had to operate the drill itself from underneath the bonnet!

Helicoiled it like that as well....madness!!!

While it's a hassle to have it welded up and refaced, might as well do it properly as bodging it on a car like yours really isn't worth it mate!

Do once, do it right!

BTW I really don not like Supra but really really liked yours! Shame it went but the Skyline is probably a little more useable!

id like to keep the depth but its 15mm thick so will be 12mm thick in the middle and still 15mm on the ends, im not sure i want a layer of weld in there, im still thinking about it all tbh.
the supra was awesome but it would of been a money pit so ive moved on, glad i did now
just gotta get this manifold sorted and its ready for some fun

i managed to straighten the manifold it finished up 1mm raised each end, i decided against having it skimmed as i only have 2mm clearance in a couple of places so its risky if the turbo and wastegate will fit.
i assembled it with stock nissan gaskets as they should give more than multi layer and i also used bloseal exhaust sealer, this is the stuff i use on the big cat engines when fitting old manifolds to old heads where there badly corroded away and ive never had a problem, ive run it up this morning no leaks at all not a sign anywhere, its so wet out though ive left it on the ramp for now, just needs blasting up the road now with some sustained load hopefully it will hold.

So with 590whp you can achieve 4.1 to 60 and 9.6 to 100. You wouldn't be slaying my Scoob and I have about 190whp less.

BHP figures arn't everything.

Must try harder!

lol if you read the post youd see it was my first drive and the gtech still needs setting up, where the gtech shows i shifted from 3rd gear at 103 mph i was doing 121 mph.

Forget all this gtech crap.... get a racelogic driftbox / performance box. Better still sign up for the next MLR MARAM 30-130mph day (will take place in March 2013). You can then see how many Scoobies you slay and more importantly you can see how your power transfers to the blackstuff in a nice safe environment.

I'll be going so that's any easy scalp for you with only 400 odd whp.

BTW... with your username you really think your not going to get some abuse in your Datsun from a Scooby owner.

ive used the gtech at pod and once set up correctly it is pretty accurate its only people using them who dont know how to or cant be bothered to set them up why they can give off results, but i agree in that a gps would be easier as it wont need accelerometer zeroing in and pitch setting dependant on suspension.

i wanted to do marham 30 - 130 last year but the supra wasnt playing ball lol

well i couldnt resist temptation anymore so ive just bought a racelogic performance box with all the accesories, not cheap at £550

will hopefully be easier to use though and not be suceptable to bumpy roads like the gtech is.

thats the main thing ive gotta get used to the gears are alot taller and i gotta get used to shifting later. im used to my r32 now on stock gearing and a single plate clutch with a big biting point, im now in a tall geared triple plate clutch car with literally no biting point
il get it just need to get used to driveing it.

well had a play with the racelogic performance box. crap weather still far from perfect just soft launches but i managed today

0 - 60 4.2
0 - 100 8.6
0 - 130 14.2
i would hope a good 1 second could come of the above on a proper launch
30 - 130 12.1
60 - 100 4.4
60 - 80 1.4
90 - 110 2.3

i also need to check what boost its running, i have it set on 1.6 bar but i looked at the gauge at 75 ish mph foot on the floor and i glanced 1.3 bar,
im gonna take it to mgt i think for a dyno run in comparable load conditions to the road and see what its doing.

ive got a ton of data so i just picked out a snipet of it

my shifts could be quicker as some shifts with lag included im looseing a second ! it does need loads of revs to keep it on the boil.

ive just checked at 1320 feet from starting a 0 mph i was doing 120 mph bang on

was a shame mate but im sure it will be back when your ready.

i want the 0 - 100 in the low 7s and 30 - 130 in the 10s, considering ive only just got it though im happy, i need to be able to data log so i can monitor boost etc as im sure its not holding anywhere near 1.6 bar at the moment.

thats the quickest way to break the gearbox, with abit more practice i will be in the low 3 seconds 0 - 60 no problem, it just needs a little clutch slip just to take the initial shock instead of the gearbox takeing it.
