andy although a clio makes perfect sense it has to be a cossie for me ,have loads of parts , and 3 saff shells[excluding g88].

although its only a bit of fun i am going to build it to a decent spec as i have good parts sitting on shelves for the past 3/4 years lol.

my local [only ] track is more about handling than outright power and only has one longish straight

brief spec
safety devices 6 point cage

pretty simple on the engine with a reliable 360 bhpwith a 34.48

autronic sm4

zoo beam

tremec box

quaiffe atb with 3.9 cwp

avo coilovers or bilstein suspension

ap 6 and 4 pots

side exit

17 inch comps

it may be a bit overkill specwise considering smallish bhp ,but this will be upgraded as and when needed in the future
when im happy with the setup and get used to driving it on track i will swap everything over to the kaliber 3dr shell ,and really have some fun

It should be pretty handy with that spec on it .
Consider Oil and Power steering coolers if you haven't already got them.

Bufty for sure. I so so so love concours... getting up super early, polishing my car for hours, sitting in a deckchair in my RS polo shirt.. making sure the wheel centres are all lined up and stuff. Thats what rocks my world. I especially love looking at concours on brand new cars. Those are the proper guys. I mean why would you wanna restore and clean an old classic? best concours cars are stuff like brand new mk2 Focus RS. They are crap on track anyway. So may as well shine them up! shining up a new car is SO impressive.

James, get on track in something you're happy to rag and not worry about damaging and see how you get on and decide from there.

I like my cars to be super-clean, even the ones I'm happy to rag, but don't go in for the concours way of life. I love to see a well cared for example of anything, but not to the detriment of being able to drive the car anywhere.

Not into Bufty cars but some people love it, dont get track cars either, if you want to race get a proper race car & enter a race series.
Theres a middle way use it as a road car & enjoy it. Im a bit long in the tooth now a Peugeot 107 suits me better & the Cossies best suited to a lock-up but as a youngster loved fast road cars. My son still talks of mega fast trips with Mr. Lennon blaring from the Audio. The problem is today too much time is spent on the internet asking what to do instead of doing it.

James, i'd go about building a standard'ish sapph for track, get used to tracking it as it is and then stick all those lovely goodies you have on it, be a shame to put all of the good bits into it and then fuck it up!

Just my thoughts..

rod ,and your point is what?

a you dont like bufty cars

b you dont like track cars

c buy a race car

d i should enter a race series ,like you did

e race around public roads ,in road/track car

f buy a peupeot 107,and lock the cossie away

g race around on public roads with my son in the car

h start listening to the beatles

i stay away from the a car forum ,takling about things that may be of interest and become a cynical old man
