Bought my first S1 in 1991,followed by another S1, and 2 series 2's,then bought my original series 1 back in 1997, and it had been off the road being restored since, and I am 44 with 45 closing fast.

it's not about how old the driver is. This thread is really about "will people say i'm too old for a turbo".
It's not about the car, it's about what you do with it. A 35 year old (like me) is probably not going to do the same stuff with his car as they would have done at 18. If they do that's when people start commenting.
If they don't like it f*** them. It's your car, i'm guessing you love it, so enjoy it for as long as you want.
I genuinely think these cars have matured along with their owners. They are looked at differently today - people buy them for different reasons than we did 15-20 years ago. For example younger people now at 20years old buying a 20year old car - bit different to us buying one 15 years ago which was 4 or 5 years old.
Think what i'm trying to get at is they're classics now... and classics can be owned by anyone - even pensioners! So we are all alright.

I'd just turned 18 when I bought my series 2, sold that one when I'd just turned 22 (good fucking riddance!! ), had a few months away from RS's and bought a mint Mercury Grey FRST.
Had that just under a year and sold it to make way for the piece of shit in my sig. Bad move!

I bought my first Rs in Diamond white S2 in 1992 and had it a few years. Bought my second S2 in mercury grey as a shed from my then 21yr old nephew 3 yrs ago. Have spent loads on it but am starting to feel a little old for it ...have lost enthusiasm to finish the little jobs and im heading for 48 !! I have always loved them. Always got the massive grin factor when driving the first one. But feel ive reached the point where other things are more important ..so maybe time to let it go.
That said age is irelevant its a state of mind ...if its something you have always wanted or always had then buy it or keep and above all enjoy it!!

Can't help but think the money that I've spent so far on this car would have enabled me to purchase a tidy saph. But saying that I would have then spent a whole load more on making that faster!
Horrible having a passion for fords lol (well the costs are anyways!)
don't think I'd sell mine, would like a cossie and the s2 to stay. Ah well we'll see how the year pans out.

going to get another s1 before long but with a yb instead of a cvh
also had a fiesta turbo in amongst the s2's and a rs1800 about 4 yrs ago aswell
youre never too old for an rs turbo in my eyes
