Give it a few months after they are realised and the tuning companys will soon have them over 300 bhp.

I think there a good looking car and the interiors are really nice... Only thing I'm not keen on is the wheels... Think they look like cheap halfords jobs..

£17k base price??

Was the MK2 Focus ST-1 not £17,495 as a base price??

And regarding both of them, they probably both have/had dealer discount!!

Bit of a shocking price imo!! And i really was tempted to go for one!!

Shocking price? £2k cheaper than equivalent Clio? What is list on the other 180-200bhp superminis? Polo gti? Fiat 500 Arbarth, Mini Cooper s etc. any cheaper than £16,995?

Im not talking vs its rivals!!! Im talking in reality sense, that 6/7 years ago when the Focus ST was the next big thing - with the 225PS volvo 5 pot it was £17,495 base....it was good value for money, considering a 1,8tdci ghia in the same shape was like £500-£1000 cheaper (my dads ghia was £16,495 at the time).

Now all these years later, a £17k fiesta is deemed as a "good price" just because a clio is a few K more or whatever!! Its still £17k for a fiesta at the end of the day!!

In that case your comment on the price of the fiesta is invalid if you say IT is overpriced as its clearly competitive vs its contemporaries.

Your problem is with the price of these type of cars in general which is a separate discussion.

It's a fact that the fiesta is well priced against its competitors

You have to compare apples with apples

I work at Ford and have seen what this engine can do on the dynos. Let's just say it won't take much to get the torque values sky high

Totally agree I've seen what the 1.0 3pot Eco boost does just over 200bhp and that's a ford chip or map iirc .

Yeah it is the 1.6 Ecoboost, just incase anyone was in doubt!

Obviously the same as in the Focus Zetec S, for which Mountune already provide a '200' package, so the same will be (almost) immediately available one would assume. I have read a couple of sources that state the US version will have 200 horses staright from the showroom, which would be slightly annoying given that we'd have to pay extra. May not be true like!

Yeah a MK7 Fiesta RS.... 300BHP.... 4x4.... Getting carried away now!!!

Got some info off a Ford dealer info sheet:

Engineering/Dynamic Feature
The new Fiesta ST delivers significant ride and handling improvements, through the implementation of the
following features:
New Steering: Provides a quick response on centre and an even quicker response off centre delivered through:
• Short steering arm
• Steering angle is disproportionate to steering movement
Unique Suspension Tuning: Delivers better body control, enhanced cornering and steering precision through:
• Modified front knuckle
• ST unique tyres and unique springs/dampers
• Sporty rear suspension
Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control (eTVC): Provides better traction and less understeer via:
• eTVC applies brake torque on the inner wheel in a curve
• Cornering understeer is further controlled with additional software which leads to the ability of passing
curves at higher speeds.
Chassis
• Specially tuned and sits 15mm lower than standard Fiesta.
Electronic Stability Control
• Three ESP modes by switch
- ESP ON: 100% intervention by ESP system
- ESP Wide slip mode: Allows for a more exuberant driving style with ‘some’ intervention from ESP
- ESP OFF: No intervention from ESP only recommended for professional drivers who are used to
driving without electrical driver aids.
Engine: The refinement and exciting feel and sound delivered by the powerful 1.6 EcoBoost 182PS, 290
Nm peak torque engine, which includes:
• 1.6-litre Ford EcoBoost four cylinder petrol engine
• Combines high pressure direct injection, low inertia turbocharging, and twin independent variable cam
timing
• All aluminium design
• 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds
• 138g CO2
• Sound Symposer: Amplifies the throaty frequencies enthusiasts crave in performance cars.

Bodystyle
The Fiesta ST is available solely in a 3 door bodystyle, will be clearly identifiable through the following
exterior features ( as shown in diagram on page 4)
• Large black honeycomb trapezoidal grille
• Corner winglets
• Large rear spoiler with twin upper air vents
• Twin exhaust outlet
• Red brake calipers and Grey alloy wheels available as an option: ‘ST Style pack’
The MPG figures are quite impressive:
urban = 35.8
extra urban = 58.9
combined = 47.9

ST
Exterior Features Exterior Features
 17” Alloy wheels
 Tinted Glass Pr
 Halogen Projector headlamps
 ST Front Fog Lights

Interior Features Exterior Features

The st2 looks to be the one to go for.
Can't believe the base car doesn't have a rear centre head restraint mind you!

True!!! i retract my comments about its pricing. I went on to this rough inflation calculation on prices of stuff now vs a given historic year:

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/b...nged-1900.html

Using this, the Fiesta RS Turbo in todays money would be near £23,000!!

I really am contemplating buying one of these!

I wonder how well the torque vector control will work? Fords claiming its as good as the torque sensing diff and revo knuckles in the RS.

Could be very interesting, could see it running rings around the competition.
