Default Toyota landcruiser 4.2 vx. Anygood

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-LANDCRU...-/270574017832

I bought one of these 6 year ago but never got to drive it more than 5 mile as some twat in a artic pulled out of a junction an took the passenger side out after 1 day of owning it. I know toyota's are reliable enough but do these suffer with any niggles I should be aware of cus I wanna buy another one. the 4.2 diesel i'm talking about by the way. sadly because of the last one jane didn't want another at the time so we bought somat else with the insurance money but now she does

your lucky you only got to dive it that far. you'd have run out of fuel otherwise.
they are, simply put, the most uneconomical vehicles i've ever known. a friend had one for two weeks, and he put nearly 300 quids of fuel into it. there wasn't anything wrong with it either, they're just unbelievable.

my dads old petrol rangey did £100 a week. that was only about 90 miles aswell but the landcruiser was in a different league and a diesel aswell. steer clear unless you've got deep pockets.

I say that because I was looking into them quite bad, but it was some time ago, think the gx is better is cause it has better/less complicated suspension

You can fit free wheeling hubs to make it 2 wheel drive ie manual hubs from another toyota.

Un breakable jeep I'm in oz and a 4.2td with over 500k km's is still worth good money over here.

Depends if you need a tough wagon though the reason they are popular here is they cope with the terrain. You can get much more comfortable and economical cars if you're not going off road

your opinion is well accepted my friend. I had the displeasure of driving a range rover supercharged from london to home, 110 miles, 60 quid in fuel

well I want a manual diesel, the misses hates auto's with a passion. and to be fair like someone else said, I had a pajero 2.5 diesel auto in 2005 and it only did low 20's on mpg

I love em myself, tough looking big bastards too!!!I'm driving a jeep Cherokee at the moment and thank fuck it's LPG as I'd be bankrupt otherwise by now,but there a nice old tool.I think 22mpg is very optimistic though as I get about 28 out of my merc ml cdi which are considered to be reasonably economical.totally agree about pajero autos,I had a manual convertible one myself(gutted I sold that) which had been fettled in japan and went like fuck yet was much better on fuel than the auto one.

Iirc there's one model landcruiser that's the least environmentally friendly vehicle on the road, which is strangely appealing!!!

Some years back my bro had the amazon, loved it, put a lot of miles on it, it was his company car(his own company), so everything bill wise was logged, he is a bit of a heavy foot person and averaged from memory 12-14mpg, was well comfy though and quick for what it was I thought.
