Default GYM, Dieting

OK ive never really been over weight for my height but always eating alot of junk food,

So after seeing all the post about people starting at the gym an seeing how many people actually go, thought id ask a few questions....

Did u change ur diet for when you started at the gym?

Do u only eat healthy food?

Or do you just eat whatevers infront of you?

I used to go to the gym a fair bit, but then i discovered beer lol But im going to go back now this Firday as at the moment i am nearly the heavist i have ever been the most unfit i have ever been etc. So now im going to watch what i eat IE not all junk food but i wont be only eating healthy either as at the end of the day if u eat stuff in moderation its ok. Unless u want to become a body builder etc.

Rule is eat stuff in moderation and dont go over board and just get into a routine at the gym and start uping stuff as u progress etc. Im off to get some weights for home on the weekend to as i want to get in shap before i go away with uni

ive lost a stone and a half in the last few months , by watching what i eat ( i still do eat some shit) but in moderation , i run around 15-20 miles a week and also go to the gym where i mostly concentrate on the cardio side of things , i do the weights as well but to tone me up more than to gain muscle.

try eating a bit less but going to the gym 5 times a week and doing about an hours worth of CV (rowing, cycling, running etc).

I'm going down in weight about a kg a week

carbs will increase fat, bread etc, red meat

keepin a balance is important, protein is important.

best off speaking to ya gym peeps, see what they reccomend for ya build and current weight, ask if they can do a fat analysis

It all depends on what your goal is, ie if you want big muscles as the end result then your diet will be different than if you just want to lose a bit of weight.

Wes, your best bet is to get a free consultation at your gym, they can point you in the correct way.

well they've done me the weight setup (seeing what weights I can lift and what I want to do) but AFAIK they don't offer a service to tell you what you should be eating....

I foind even if your not a gym queen, just increasing what you do, do (if nothing then walking/jogging) if you walk walk longer etc,if you find running to hard on the knees try cycling as its a less load bearing activity.
As for diet water is the best appetite supressor, so keep dinking small amounts during the day along with small amounts of nutritious food ie.not mac D`s or BK just small amounts throughout the day will stop you feeling lathargic and bloated, ie if you eat 3 heavy big meals a day it takes longer to digest and makes you feel uncomfortable for prolonged periods.Try not to eat just before sleeping and remember breakfast is the best meal to eat as it fires the metabolism tostart the body burning calories all day...

sorry if i bored you all to tears!

Im just trying to eat less and do some exercise, no more cakes and stuff, softdrink, candy etc.

As Chris pointed out, water is great, often when you feel hungry you are actually just thirsty. So instead of making a sandwich i drink some water.

Rhys, if you go to US for a longer time you will return as a fat slob.

I've stopped eating shit, knocked the drinking down a bit, started exercising, for two weeks so far. No biscuits, no crisps, just fish, veg, fruit, decent brekkie etc...

Shocked myself before, looking for a pair of crap jeans to go and mess around under the car, found a *seriously* old pair, and I can get in a 32" waist, first time in about 5 years! lol!

It's so worth it, much as I hate to admit it.

I cut out all the junk food eat 4 solid meals each day, go to the gym 3 days a week for 90 minutes and play indoor soccer on Sundays. I'm loosing 7-10lbs a month but more to the point I'm keeping it off.

Slow and steady.
