There's a lot of experts on here, but I'd be surprised if there was a gyrocopter expert! They look like utter death traps to me!

I want one. Balado airfield near here has a lot of Microlights, and I think a wee Nelly from the James Bond movie would just make those look sad...

Ive been up in a few. Great fun and awesome buzz!!!!

Safer than a helicopter because the rotor isnt engine driven so if the engine fails you'll still be able to glide to land.

Ment to be the safest way of flying mate you can cut the engine out at five hundred feet and land safely! wouldnt try it on my first go though lol.

You can in a regular helicopter mate, it`s called autorotation but you got to be a bit exact with it though

Is that where you change the pitch of the blades so that as you start to fall it spins them like a windmill, once they are up to speed you reverse the pitch to create lift again, hopefully before you hit the ground.

Yes mate, you use the inertia in the rotor head to give you enough lift at the right time to hopefully land ok..... it`s something you have to be able to do in order to succesfully pass your PPL, sounds mega difficult but it`s not actually that bad in reality but you do have to be a bit precise to get a decent landing
