Diesel should be cheaper, as it's more unrefined than Petrol. They put the price up to try and dissuade people from using derv as it's less eco-friendly than petrol - but by raising the prices it's forcing more and more people to buy a diesel car! Yet another ridiculously flawed government strategy.

The sad thing is, we have our own oil reserves in this country and export nearly all of it.

I think you will find the goverment has now made it totally illegal for them to do this after last time, and i don't know if the haulage companys get anything so fuel works out a bit cheaper, tax releif etc.

Till most people (As in A LOT) in the UK either block the roads or start protesting outside Downing street or the big oil companies then it will rise and rise as they know no one will do anything to stop them!!

Hi All Just received this. Don’t know if it will work, but petrol prices are about to rise sharply next month.

Odd isn’t it !

Below is not a boycott in May as in last years option. I honestly do not think there is a direct answer as the oil companies will sit it out no matter what. This is interesting. I wonder how many people will do this. I will, and I wonder if it will make a difference ?

We will wait and see.

Please read this and pass it on – we can only try and have some influence for a change!!

PETROL PRICES - PLEASE READ AND JOIN!!!

The price of oil is as low as it has been for a while, the oil companies have simply jacked their prices up and the government will not do anything as they rake in extra VAT for every increase.

See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it

We are hitting 114.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 1.50 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 90p a LITRE RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just join this group and get all your FB friends to join or forward as an email to everyone in your address book, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e..

It's a bunch of shit that gets trotted out once every few months. It's on a par with those chain emails that tell you you will get £500 off Bill Gates if you forward the email to 20 friends!

They should set in stone that Diesel and Petrol are £1 per litre and make it some kind of legislation / code of practice.

We Pay the same for Oil as the majority of the 1st world (Cheapest in Europe)

Its TAX that bumps the price up. The less we buy the more it costs.

And we dont own ANY oil in the UK. Thatcher seen to that, We import our Own oil and Pay VAT on it ..

Diesel is allot cheaper to produce as its lower in the Fractional distillation table ...

I dont know about Bio Diesel here but its more expensive in North America ..

i remember when i first started to drive that it would cost around £25 to brim the cossie from empty

but as long as fuel prices are taxed as heavily as they are, and lets not beat around the bush here, no fucker is going to drop the fuel duty prices as the country is fucked, they won't come down

the only "sensible" thing to do would be to ring fence all the income from motoring, such as tax on fuel, insurance, vat form car sales, road theft license and everything else, so that it would pay for the transport sector only and not help pay nurses and hospitals and playstations for young offenders of laptops for single scroungers etc

but seeing as the motorist is such an easy target, that would be like the government shooting itself in the bollocks, with some sort of tank that actually works rather than some of the shit they send to iraq

What would you all do if you went to your local petrol station ans saw a list of local petrol station prices. On the list was one up the road at 0.01-0.02p cheaper. Would you go there or just fill up at the higher price?
