Default Zetec Turbo... How much boost? Please help

I have a Mk2 mondeo with a 2.0 zetec engine. It is currently getting a turbo conversion and want to know what the best amount of boost i should run (psi).

I will be running the mk1 Focus RS turbo, manifold ect, intercooler standalone mangement, loom, bigger injectors ect, however I am not lowering the compression yet as I was not going to run anymore than 10psi. I am still running the standard clutch and internals.

With this conversion what is the best PSI to run so that my clutch will not slip, i will still have traction and internal can cope.

Thanks guys

Yeah thats what im worried about. The first thing I am doing is the clutch (but that will be when I have the money and will not be for a few months). Any recommendations on how much boost I should run to be safe?

6-8 psi over in the states u can buy turbo conversion kit's which includes turbo, manifold injectors intercooler ect al 2 be used on standard internals they all say 6-8psi boost. Also if u look at powerworks super charger kit for the zetec they run at 8psi on standard internals and u can get a bigger pulley and up the boost wen you've get forged internals. So 6-8 psi m8 play it safe.

what sort of gains do you get with 6-8 psi will there be quite a noticeable increase in bhp?

and keeping all the internals and comp standard does that mean you'll have no lag?

edit: sorry to thread jack

depends on the spec of the engine really and the mapping. But roughly 200-240bhp the later bein much better speced eg front mount cooler cams bigger tb custom plenum ect. But if Ur not paying out 4 forged pistons and rods i dare say it's a pretty basic spec?? So id say low 200's at 8psi

Thanks guys, I have been told that I will running about 200-210bhp on standard internals, intercooler and standlone mangement, stage1 cams and bigger injectors with about 8psi boost. Im a little worried if the clutch will cope but i will find out in a weeks time (its going on rolling road so will tell you the results)

My plans are to uprate clutch, lighten flywheel and better brakes, then I will move on to lower compression and run more boost, however then i will have to look at limited slip dif as my car will just spin as soon as turbo kicks in.

Thanks again for all your advice

cheers for the info lads just wondered i always thought there was no use in low psi conversions but looks like quite a big bang for buck, personally i dont no if i'd risk using standard internals, but guess it all comes down to price.

The T38 will differ dependent on who made it, some are bigger wheels in a T34 shell, the TT one uses its own compressor housing.

my silver escos pulled around 340bhp at 22psi, although it would hold the power for ages. 430-440bhp peaking 32psi

Psi doesn't mean anything. A big turbo on 4psi will outflow a small turbo on 14psi. So it depends on your turbo/spec and how its mapped.

I think it was more the fact that a T38 is a larger, more powerfull turbo than a GT28 and both would probably be using the same (standard bar springs) head

Oh and I'm sure someone has done over 400 on a standard bottom end

well was a bit hammerd last night lol, it's not shit 330hp is fast by all means but there are much smaller turbo's that would do that power at that boost and have a bigger power band (t34 or gt28) would be my choice buget depending.

my gt28 maxxed out my 480cc injectors last year around 350hp and that was on 20psi.

p-s i have just clicked the link its not a t38 it says a t34 but on a ported head!! my head was standard bar the springs so i would still think it should be doing more for the boost.
