Default Who makes the best diesel engine?

Looking to get a dieseal car for workies....

Who makes the best one power wise?

Every diesel I've driven has nothing to offer.

Any good v6 diesels out there?

Great choice

Evo chips remap made so much difference. I sometimes drive exactly the same spec car but standard and it feels so flat compared to mine.

In fact i'd say the jag diesel in the xf is rated as best in class from what i've read, and this seems to back it up

jag emissions aren't as good as the BM though if you're thinking about running costs.

PSA supply the smaller engines and ford supply the bigger engines. anything above a 2.2litre is a ford engine.

The Jag XF Diesel S is 0-60 in 5.9s
BMW 535d sport is 0-60 in 6.4s

The Jag is cheaper, less CO2 and does more MPG and is faster.

Oh lol

The smaller engines ( 4pot ) are PSA and the Ford ones are the bigger ones.......so you couldnt be more wrong

As I was alluding to, its a shame the fantastic 3.0 twin turbo diesel isnt showcased in a Ford model.

ahh your on about the 2010 one as the others are no where near the 535d? as for the 2010 version i think you will find there both £44k OTR as new? jag is not faster its a tad slower but hardly anything in it and think theres about 6mpg between them

what do you want to use it for though?

and what budget?

if it's for pimping then the audi q7v12d is about £90k at one end of the scale whereas you could possibly pick up a mondeo sttdci for around £6k

the beemers got 3 different engines as far as i'm aware, the older 2.9, the newer 3.0 and then the twin turbo'd 3.0

but if you are doing motorway miles and just want economy then the little audi lumps are cracking, i've seen 83 mpg out of one on a run

I'm really tempted by a leon cupra tdi.

as above budget is a big factor here - what are you looking to spend?

I had around 6.5k so went for the mondeo st tdci - great car/engine combo

Plus it could be for sale if your looking???
