330ft lbs
Same ratios as a Cossie, but with a Mustang input shaft and mainshaft, so you'd have to change clutch plate and prop-yoke.

The point I was making was the Cosworth T5 and this super wotsit thingy T5 are the same rating.
The super thingy doodar T5 IS an upgrade however on a Mustang, which normally runs a NWC box (non world class). The Cosworth T5 is a world class transmission.
Hope that makes sense

Just found some quotes on the above box...
no it will not last. dont waste any coin on that, save towards a tremec or a T56
you will grenade that bitch in no time flat and will be a serious kickin yourself in the ass waste of money. I did not powershift mine, the case will flex under the extreme load of all that torque and the gears will seperate in the middle of 3rd gear and then they will comence to eating themselves
i can hear my 3rd gear whine over the turbo sound
I'd floor it in 3rd gear, and it would break (3 times it happened until i got a tremec) now i try with the tko and it wont break.

The TKO is just perfect for my car & I have it in preference to the T56.
The 6th gear ratio was way to high for the road & if I changed the Diff ratio to compensate would always be between gears. I prefer a Long 3rd & 4th gear for the 60-150 road stuff. Which takes only 9.21s & 1 gear change, devastating on the road. .
If it was a track car I may have made a different choice.

When I bought my box 5 years ago it was £1300+ & then I paid £750 for a road/race gear kit. The TKO NOW has that as Standard. .
ps. By the way TKO is American for Total Knock Out. i kid you not.

I never said your prices were dear ? I was just posting up the prices in a
catalog, 4 the boxes on there own, and yes its not just the price of the box
its all the other bits that all add up, Iv been down that road myself ,and when you add it all up, of whats involved ur price seems quite reasonable,
especialy for a drive in drive out conversion. mine cost me alot more, but
with anything thats a one of job, its very raley as easy to do in practice as
it is in your head, or as cheap.

The only 5speed gearbox i would consider getting for 500+ lbft is a TKO600
Real Steel sell the TKO600 and for £40 (goldcard membership open to anyone) you get 10% off list price
BUT unless you want to spend alot of time and hassle on first finding all the necessary parts and then getting one to fit then Brom must be the one to use.
Real Steels T56 (GM) has the wrong 5th gear ratio listed in their latest catalogue from memory
Its 5th and 6th overdrive gears (coupled with a 2.98:1 gear set) are as Rod said too high. Ideal for a cruising gear but not as a close ratio 6speeder.
You can now get much closer ratio T56's, 0.90:1 5th & 0.79:1 6th, no excuse now Rod 210mph? and no need to rev to 8000
Bernie,
Tremec rate the standard cosworth T5 at 265 lbft and their latest at 330. The later one seems to withstand alot more torque from US customers with V8 dragstrip cars than in cosworths, apart from the input and output shaft diameters is there ANY difference in the parts used between these gearboxes to make a difference to their rating?
From the above quotes by US customers, it seems pretty pointless why they compare a T5 with a T56, is it not like stating the obvious
