Default E34 M5 wheel tyre size?

i've just bought a e34 saloon with what i think is m5 wheels.

but i'm unsure on correct tyre size. also mine doesn't have the little m badges so maybe mine are replicas?

i've done a bit of research on the net and found conflicting advice, some saying 245-40-18 tire for the front and 265-35-18 for the rear, others advising 245-40-18 all round.

i'm on 235-40-18 atm and the tyres rub, hence why i'm looking into this.

any views fellow passionbmw'ers? also tyre pressures on a 525 m50 saloon?

They're 18" wheels from an E39 5-Series or an E38 7-Series mate... the E34 M5 came with 17" alloys as standard:

dunno, it seems later e34 had those wheels but they were 9" wide on the back and 8" on the front, mine are 8" all round so i suspect 7 series like you say!

True, I have seen some of the later E34 M5 wearing the Parrallels (sp?) too... IIRC the E34 that Top Gear used on their M-Tribute Show on Isle of Man was on the 18" wheels, I just assumed they'd been added at a later date.

Cheers,
Grant

these m parrallel wheels were fitted to nurburgring spec cars to clear the huge brake callipers.they should be wider at the rear (7.5" and 8.5" i think).my m5 had 245/40/18 all round bit strange with different width rims but the handbook says this is correct.still got a tyre if you want it.
