Default Anybody clued up on Mk5 TDi Golfs?

Been looking at a Golf TDi, the dealer werent open today to ask so I thought i'd put it up here....

Basically I wanted to know if anyone knows what power a car is, its an 07 plated Golf Mk5, the facelifted one.

Dark headlights, R32 style bumper with different grilles and gloss black centre, hidden exhaust, silver badging and it has Golf TDi on the boot with GT Sport on the front grille.

I know people were able to tell the difference between the Mk4 105/115/130/150 TDi's by the badging and subtle features so wondered if anyone was able to tell on the Mk5?

I have a reg too, WM07CCZ.

Thanks,
Paul

My 57plate mk5 gt tdi had the twin exhaust showing, with the above you mentioned
yours sounds like a 170 bhp
impressive car for a diesel.

Just read elsewhere that the GT TDi Sport 170's have the exhausts showing and the 140's have hidden ones.

And the 170's have a red I on the TDi badge.

140+remap it is then lmao

To be honest it's best waiting for the dealer to tell you what it is. no point guessing
The 170's have the twin exhausts 100%. Probably has some 170 options.

Best bet is to look for the sticker in the boot floor to tell you the engine code and power output

Dont listen to guff about the red i or the red di part of the badges etc etc as this isnt always the case

Nice cars

If it's the 2.0 TDI be careful. Early ones had problems with cracked heads and the dual-mass flywheels are notorious for letting go early.

I've got a 140 on an 07. Get it remapped but I would treat the turbo as a consumable item afterwards!

Also 07 was the change over, the early GT's just have GT on the back, but the later ones 2.0 TDi.

awesome car, we have a 210bhp mk4 gt tdi, dude at work has a 140bhp Jetta, remapped to 200bhp but fitted a hybrid turbo Friday & it made 220bhp, it will have some more mapping and a bigger intercooler this next week to pass 230bhp, its about 400lbs/ft at the moment.

Apparently people prefer the 140's for tuning, sure i heard that ages ago anyway.

170's had a thing for cambelts.

The Allard A3 is a 140 TDI and that has over 300bhp and nearly 500lb/ft i think.

The 170's have DPF's which don't like remaps I have heard?

What can you do to the 140? Mines just got a remap on. But I want a better turbo, already had one go!
