take it to ford or a ford specialist for key reprogram. I just had it with a 406 i've had years. Pulled a fuse. Put it back. Light on but no start.

shouldn't have done really. what does the immobiliser light do when you put the key in the ignition? when you put the ignition on it should go solid and then go off. if it keeps flashing then its an immobiliser fault.

modern technology strikes again. I would of said the keys need coding. How many original keys have you got with the car. Is it just the one.

Shoulden't have any effect at all the original key should still work, the new one won't as it hasen't been paired with the car.
Did you try starting with the new key before you found the original? To put ECU into learning mode to program new key you need a working key to start with. Martin |

As said a new key won't erase or affect anything, it just won't work.
Assuming it's the same as earlier mondy etc with the RED master key, then you simply inser this key first, take out then have a certain time to insert new key and it reads the code and remembers it, something like that anyway. As you will not have to take it to a ford dealer, ask them to delete the old keys, get yourself another cut, and ask them to programme a red master. Shop around a lot for prices if you have local ford garages, but beleive some mobile locksmiths can do this as well now. I had a new black key supplied and a red master supplied/coded and all the old keys deleted and it cost me £60 ish, but that was about 6 years ago. tabetha |

No didn't try starting it with the new key just turned on igintion and unlocked the steering wheel.
Tried to start it with the supposedly original that i managed to find Disconnected the battery - no joy left the original key in the barrel with the ignition on for about an hour somewhat hoping itll re-code lol but no joy And no its not like the earlier mondeo's these models need the specalist computer to program them Got a very cheap and resonable quote so will keep you posted on what happens thanks |
