Default Any good cheap fault code readers?

After a cheap fault code reader (under 100) seen the rac ones in argos, anyone use these or know if they work ok.

Ive bought the software and lead for a laptop but it never bloody worked!

autel gs500 on ebay is decent I've had 1 for a while, come down in price now

Buying 1 from gendan next, to use off laptop just under £80 as it will let me record sensor data and hopefully suss the wifes car out

IMO you get what you pay for, garages dont spent thousands on theirs for the fun of it.

A mate has a Mac Tools one, think it was about £80, its only worked on a couple of cars ive tryed it on and even then it could not turn warning lamps off etc.

I got one off ebay, was about 15-20 quid, works fine on all cars i've used it on so far, resets warning lamps etc.

dont bother with that rac stuff its shit and only works on 2004 in model cars so ive been told

I bought the same one as Rich170, also worked fine on every car I've tried it on, but the car needs to have OBDII protocol to work correctly with mine.

i got a little launch one reads fau;ts amd resets lights on all eobd cars i tryed it on was 60 sheets iirc

Hi mate does this work on the older and cheaper cars 1990 - 2000 as am looking to purchase one and been told they only work on 2001+ cars?

What kinda cars have you used it on and did it work fine or Some it did and some it didnt?
