Default Subaru Legacy starting problem

Right as a font of all knowledge that PassionFord is I'm wondering if anybody can shed some light on this problem.

We have a Subaru Legacy twin turbo that starts perfect from cold and perfect when hot. If you stop and leave it for a few minutes to say get petrol it then will not restart it just turns over. Leave it a couple of hours so it's stone cold and it starts on the key.

Any ideas as I'm stumped to fuck

Water temperature sender for the ECU? It could be faulty and giving the ECU the wrong reading.

You can connect the green and black plugs togther under the dash and read if there are any fault codes. The sequence of flashes on the check engine light tells you which sensor is faulty google Subaru fault codes and you should find out how to do it and how to read the flashes.
