I think the most straightforward place to put it is in a sandwich plate. Or you can put a t-piece in the pressure switch hole but this might not be very accurate as its not really in the flow, so I would think in a sandwich plate would be best!

In the sump is without doubt the best place. Most people can't be arsed with doing this though so they take the lazy route and put it in a sandwich plate.

Just drill your sump plug to 11/32 and use a 1/8 NPT tap, then put it in the sump plug.

I got my sandwich plate, £20.. Expensive..
Sump is probably better, but make sure your sender reachs in enough.

because that is where your oil is stored in the engine before it gets sucked into the pump & sent around the engine to do its job of lubricating & cooling of the engines oily bits, so to get the best idea wether your oil is upto the job or being pushed past its working limits you should ideally have the sender in the sump ,but it is harder to do i.e. welding a bung in the sump to take probe or do what tabetha said & tap your sump plug
