Default No main beam but all other lights work!!

Hi all this is my first post, what a great forum this seems to be.

As the title says i have a ford Focus Ghia 2ltr 51 plate, i left work tonight and turned on my lights, they flashed on for a fraction of a second and went down to low beam, i have checked all fuses and all seem fine, i have checked all other lights and they are fine, could it be the relay for my main beam or could it really be possible that both bulbs blew at the same time?
Thanks Mike

What do you mean by they went on to main beam when you switched them on?

Or do you mean you turned the dipped beam on and they flicked on and went off, back to sidelights. The two circuits should be seperate, they have an individual fuse, relay etc so incase one fails, it doesn't take out both your lights.

Could be a coincidence, but i'd check the bulbs first.

Thanks for getting back to me, what actually happened was i put my main beam on and lights just flashed very quickly, just like a bulb in your house and went down to low beam, i have checked my manual and it does have 2 seperate relays, one for main beam and one for low. how much do these things cost( roughly)

I have no idea on how much a relay costs. Is it a pre or post facelift? (if its a prefacelift the front indicators will be in the bumper, facelift indicators are built into headlights)

First of all i would really like to thank you Rich, i did get mixed up abit and was told it was my dipped headlights that had actually gone, not main beem, so taking a closer look as you said, i actually got one of my lights working, (loose connection or something) the other had actually blown, just a coincidence it seems that they both went at the same time. So i have now resolved my problem and again like to thank you very much for your help, keep up the good work. Mike
