Default Corsa C gearchange adjust

Help mates daughter's car won't go into 1st or 2nd at all really, well does occasionally if forced.
Clutch is 100% perfect as is box once in, clearly it's a adjustment problem, but don't know how to do this on these, they don't have a manual, mates going to do it himself whilst I laugh, I mean watch, jesus the oil check is like rocket science to him!!
I want to keep on the good side of his(absolutely gorgeous) daughter!!
Thanks, for any help, though I can manage the daughter on my own!!
Moron from local garage diagnosed over the phone, a new gearbox and clutch!!

hi, vauxhall do a modified linkage for this problem, although i would try resetting the adjustment first before you replace it as this can cure it temporarily. to do this 1st lift up the gearstick gaitor you'll see a small hole in the left hand side of the housing and also one on the gear stick, line these up and use a 3/16 punch or drill bit to lock them in place. next on top of the gearbox, the selector turrett has a small plastic spring loaded plunger. see if you can press this in until the spring is fully compressed. if you can then you'll need to change the linkage as theres too much play in it. if you cant press it in all the way then get underneath the car and slacken off the bolt on the gear selector rod, then back on top, wiggle the plastic UJ by the selector turrett until you can get the plunger all the way in. then tighten the bolt, remove the punch.

hope that helped

I had exactly the same issue with a corsa c a couple of days ago. Just farted around with the linkage until I got the gears spot on, unfortunately I didn't know about the pin hole under the gearlever gaiter! LOL!

Just undo the torx bolt on the linkage rather than try to undo the nut on top! The nuts welded to the linkage! Looks just like an ordinary nut when you look at it from the top! Thought it was tight! LOL!
