i understand why, because a good condition yb will make 330bhp all day long with off the shelf parts and push that to 380 with a few more tweeks, although i do agree a zetec would mean a drop in job as apposed to custom front and rear mounts needed, custom cooling system, the torque off a yb would chew the bc box, spit it out and ask for seconds, mtx75 would be a better option, plenty out their in rs2k's and diesel escorts. if i remember the conversion i saw, the guy used a t3/4, 4x4 exhaust manifold, for engine mounts using 2 focus rear gearbox roll restrictors, oneoff steel flywheel with focus rs paddle clutch, omex 700 engine management, but i suppose cosworth loom and ecu could be extended to fit. hope it helps, and good luck

if you have most of the bits then just do it, would be an animal, just talk to someone like recoprop bout your driveshaft needs then get the welder out!

Why?
Cosworth engine is tunable yes, but:- Its going to be a nightmare to fit. Its Fwd so the easily found power is going to exceed the point of being useful. You don't really sound like you know what you are doing, so i doubt this will ever be finished.

i don't see the point of being negative, tons of people are building 300+bhp zetecs in fwd so are they all pointless projects too?
If people were not gona go against the grain the world would be a very boring place to be. if the engine is too much for the fwd chassis then the engine can easily be detuned to enable a better drive |

The zetec's arent as evolved as the YB's. so the YB's at 300bhp are so much more reliable. because over the years people have trial an error'd parts.

you modify theinner chassis legs to make room for the pulleys, gearbox stays in original position, you then make custom engine mounts so the engine sits in straight and the correct angle
once the engine and box are in then you will need to sort the heat proofing out for where the turbo is going to sit, custom exhausts, boost pipes, water pipes, intercooler and rads it will be easier to bolt a zetec turbo straight in and will cost half of what fitting a cossue engine is going to be

![]() A lot easier to fit, both in the bay and onto an MTX75 box (which is far superior to a crappy b5) plus tuning to around 300bhp should be that hard. There's a reason people don't use YB in FWD - Whats the point when you've a far easier alternative?
