I actually quite like that. It looks hard in a Mad Max sort of way. And there's not many of those Mk4s about now either.

Ive had 3 escort 55s and have to say have never had a single issue with any of them, and i must say, the escort van looks far far nicer than the connect. all it needs is a Zetec in it as th 1.8 d is so slow (yet ultra reliable)

Heres my Van, although its been far from a "trusty" warhorse. Snapped the crankshaft so needed a new engine. Had alternator and battery problems as well as a long running fuelling problem i cant seem to fix

Hi all, an Escort van Newbie here!! I have recently bought a 51 plate 55 TD, excellent condition inside and out. However, it still has the Escort 13in steel wheels on it with 165x80x13 tyres and I would very much like to change them but am not sure what is involved!!

If I was to fit some 5 spoke ford 16in wheels, would they bolt on ok without the need for stud extensions, what size tyre would I need to fit without the tyres rubbing on the inside of the arches and how much difference would it make to the speedo reading??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, its a lovely motor and I want it to look just right!!

Many thanks

Well mate ive got the 16 mondeo five spokes on mine with 205 50 16's which to be fair look fine ! The fronts fit perfect but the backs may rub a little on the inner arch ! I didnt bother with spacers just beat the arch back a bit until the rubbing stopped ! lol Or to do it properly you could get some spacers !

Hello mate, thanks for that. Not sure I fancy getting busy with a lump hammer so will look into the spacers!! Is this because of the width of the tyre??

Many thanks once again for replying.

Yeah mate the tyres catch , not much but enough to be pain ! You could go narrower but the 205's look right on a van ! If you get 195's they look tooo small ! Lol ! Space it and you shouldnt have any bother !
