Im familiar with the car, think the engine is in bits yet again at the moment though as he said it was when I asked if he wanted to go to TOTB this year, or is it back together again now? Think he had an engine failure at TOTB when he ran there before as well TBH but I might be remembering wrong.

pmsl them tables are quality, why do people think 2hrs of mapping is enough, not sure who to blame the guy mapping it or customer for allowing it

does emarald do just basic map pressure table or do you have to use the tps and map correction??

ive done a good few pulsar etc with motec and its tricky getting tables right but atleast you get a 3d table for boost correction

Im not aware of a way of swapping the main load value to be MAP instead.

Like you I prefer to use MAP as a load figure on a turbo car (or a combination of that and throttle angle like Autronic does) but ultimately its still very possible to get good results from the emerald setup with it configured like on this car, just obviously not when the wrong values are entered into the table like in this case!

Sounds like interesting info to post up for anyone who might be considering emerald for their car mate, do some screen grabs showing how if you get a chance.

IIRC it was on the rollers for 5 hours, the customer thought that he had received a decent map as the power figures were good, it was only when he tried to actually use it and it failed almost immediately that he realised all was not well.
He was paying an "expert" to map it for him, so that is what he believed they had done.

Why not go back?

Because there is no way to prove the damage is 100% mapping related.

Long way to go for him as well.

When he phoned up and sent pictures etc he was told that was debris damage to the pistons and they hadnt melted at all.
But apparently was offered a free remap when the engine is back together

Any joy on that mate?

I have had a good look through the software I have and there is nothing obvious allowing that configuration.

thats because your honest

not a dishonest wanker, and the problem is when your a dishonest wanker you have no issues with saying that was not my fault, that damage is from someing going thought the engine

prove otherwise

its just annoying that ppl can get away with it

I think its harsh to call him dishonest without proof, being dishonest isnt the only explanation for him taking money for something without doing it properly and then wrongly saying that is debris damage rather than it having melted, the other explanation is that he is completely and totally clueless.

And from looking at that map it certainly is perfectly possible that he is just completely and totally clueless and knows utterly nothing about mapping or engines, so may not realise that what he did was utter shit, or that what he is saying to the customer now is completely wrong.

So really you should say he is a "dishonest or incompetent" wanker, rather than drawing the conclusion he is definately dishonest.

Not if he doesnt realise he is clueless.

He might mistakenly be under the impression that he has the first fucking clue what he is doing.

Nic certainly likes abusing it, he would have probably been ok on this map, as it would have never seen half throttle which is where its most dangerous, lol

Is it back in one piece now then after it died recently?

Ive only spoken to him a few times, and each time the engine has been fucked for one reason or another, but maybe that wasnt a representative sample!

from what i remember, the engine never died, oil light came on. stripped down to find cause and some utter cunt at his work had opened the bonnet whilst nic was away and put some fine stones/gravel into the engine, its found its way into the sump and blocked the pick up pipe.

was stripped for inspection, no visible damage, built back up and its getting abuse again ever since.

i've never really heard of him having major engine trouble, only traction issues, gearbox mount and a diff seal.

Yeah he said to me something about someone putting stones into it or something.

Still it could be worse, they could have put one of JDM's bodge spec maps on it, that would have really fucked it judging by what happened to this engine, lol

Yes mate, 500bhp or there abouts and very tidy?

Just had a problem with the lifter shims, like AG had at TOTB but with more damage done!
