Default Zetec Turbos with MTX75 gearboxes, which equal length driveshafts to use?

Has anybody got any advice on what equal length diveshaft set up to use for the above?

I have a 2ltr silvertop zetec turbo with an MTX75 gearbox in a S2 RS Turbo.

I have a mondeo equal length drivshaft set up I would like to fit and it would appear that I cannot get the mounting braket to fit on the block in its designed position to hang the support bearing for the intermediate drive shaft.

This I find really odd, as the Mondeo it came from had a 2ltr silver top with an MTX75 gearbox. My gearbox is from an RS2000 (MTX75) so I assumed they should work fine. Can anybody tell me whats going wrong here or are the RS2000 box and the silver top mondeo gearboxes different?

Any advice would be good as I am scratching my head on this one. Better still if anybody has any pics of Focus or Mondeo driveshaft setups that would be great.

Thanks

Yes mate I am running a shitty 1.8 sump, but its all baffled and has take offs and returns welded all over it for different things, so I need to keep it.

Pics would be great if you dont mind. I could get something welded to the sump to carry the focus bracket if need be! I presume you are talking about the focus bracket?

I have been led to believe the focus set up is smaller and stronger than the mondeo one, do you happen to know if thats true?

I am using equal length shafts, on a MTX from a RS2000 with a Zetec turbo silvertop block, but I bought the box with everyhting already done. My 3rd driveshaft bracket bolts to the block though, not the sump?

Havent got pics at the minute as their being all rebuilt with new CV joints at my mates.

Cool!

I assume thats the mondeo one you have then, I will probably end up using the mondeo bracket just cut and shut to work correctly.

Could you tell me if the bracket you are using looks like a factory supplied unit or something sombody has made up/adapted themselves? At least then I will now ther IS a bracket out there that will work!

I must also admit I havnt actually lined this up on the car yet I plan to do this work at the weekned, but a lad I know who has exactly the same parts as me cant get it to work! So I am assuming (with out seeing) that I will have the same problem.

Mine uses the Focus setup bolted straight to the 2 litre sump.

I'd suggest you simply swap the sump, and reweld your breather connections etc rather than welding/fabricating a bracket

i use the mondeo set up on my fezz and i used the focus set up on rick and both bolt to the sump. sounds like you have put a lot of fab work into your sump ,the shaft is ridged so just pop it into the box put the bracket on for the bearing mark up the sump and weld on some solid tabs about 30mm round and 15mm deep and drill and tap them .

You will find the Mondeo have a bracket that mounts onto the block.

As for the mount itself its in 2 half moon shapes the cast steel part which mounts to block or sump on whichever variant is avaialble new from Ford at £19.99.

So you just need to pop there and buy one, saves pissing around in a scrap yard.
Just give them the reg of the car the gearbox is out of. Then adapt the block bracket to fit. Ka cars also have this same mount that bolts to block but the bearing is much smaller that sits in it.

Just need to make sure the half shaft you have is matched with the bracket then either make a drop bracket or if lucky it will mount straight up!.

ive got an mtx out of a mk6 escort cab. Im using a silvertop mondeo block and an equal length shaft setup off the mondeo. Its meant to bolt onto the block, but for some strange reason its like the escort mtx is different because the bracket on the shaft sits about and inch to high, and is no where near close to the mounting holes on the block?????????

anyone got any ideas?
