Default Octavia VRS TDI vs ST TDCI

Hi!

Just a quick question to ask if anyone's had any experience with these and what they are like??
It's nearly coming to the time to replace my Focus oil burner(the works truck!)

I've been looking at Mondeo ST TDCI's and Octavia Vrs Tdi's and just wondering what other people's oppinions are!?!?

P.S in no way at all is the RS being sold for this!

Thanks!

The skoda octavia VRS is a brilliant car, they pull from 60 to well over 115 with little effort, catches you out sometimes LOL. But all in all an excellent car! Never been in the mondeo so I couldn't compare tbh.

do some research on the DPF filters on the Skodas..... like the VW's they are proving problematic.

Briskoda.net is a good site with loads of helpful guys.

Thanks chaps!

Yeah, heard the DPF filters can be a prob. My neighbour's a VW mechanic and he'd mentioned it... his answer was 'give it a blat up the motorway once in a while'!

I've got the older Ford Tddi engine and my dad's got a Tdci which have done a lot of miles with no probs! Just fancy a quick(ish) diesel and like the Vrs. Went for a test drive in one at liked it!! Not as brutal putting the power down as my RS, but thats now what they're built for I guess.

Thanks again!

I like the look of the ST TDCi and they seem to tick a lot of boxes for quite attractive money these days... plus I dunno what its like anywhere else, but local to me, almost EVERY joe baxi is a fookin Octavia Derv and I wouldn't be able to ignore the taxi jokes forever.

Cheers,
Grant

DAB... That was the way I was thinking of going! I'm running bluefin on my Focus as that turned it from an utter dog, to a car that pulls quite well for what it is!

RS Grant... You've hit the nail on the head there, every local taxi company round here's running Octavia derv's too!...Doh!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

i had a vrs diesel 170bhp standard as courtesy as my Petrol vrs had a nice bump and raced a ST TDCI and there was not a fat lot in it, the mondeo seemed to have slightly more torque in my opinion, not a fat lot. they both shift for diesels though sorry its not an indefinate answer but is say the mondeo. but i dont think the tuning possibilites are as high as on the skodas.

Thanks for your input mate! Its all appreciated!

In all honesty i've always been a Ford man, as they're reliable relativley cheap/easy to fix and service! From what i've seen the Skoda's can be tuned to quite silly power, but i'm not too bothered about that!

Ta!

In my experience of having driven a few VRSs they are great cars to drive. I found the interior build quality a bit poor though. ON the 4 that I have driven, door handles come off, interior mirrors fallen off, and roof lining coming loose. And this was oll on cars less than 6 months old.
But despite all this, I looked at buying one because I enjoyed driving them so much.
