bbc.co.uk/mobile takes 2 seconds and the full desktop version takes about 6 seconds .. Interested to see the results from other handhelds...

Ah ok i see. Im on voda but they have not released the latest firmware yet. And debranding looks like a very risky job at them moment, as lots of forums are reporting it doesnt work and deems the phone useless!

Well, had a good play with both yesterday, and I have joined the ranks of the Apple geeks ... As Stu H says, there is nothing that comes close for internet browsing. I have gone for the 32Gb in black, so will see how I get on with it long term when it turns up

Thats the trouble, I need a good internet phone, and nothing comes close! Shame the camera is only a crappy 3mp with no flash, but you can't have everything I suppose

It was good to be honest mate, dont egt me wrong as most annoyances were with software but for a phone teh same price and size i had to go with N97.

Issues that stood out.
Very poor quality video recording (I like to record Ella growing etc)

Wouldnt connect to my car kit so maybe not actually Bluetooth 2.0?

Couldnt get it to load flash based websites fast, if at all.

Not as expandable, but not an issue to me really.

Other than that enjoy it, at lest it can actually do video and MMS now, unlike the previous iPhone I had for about 3 hrs. LOL

personally I think people expect too much from a phone I am very happy as long as my phone makes phone calls and I can hear them clearly.
as regards surfing the net I use a pc
for taking pictures I use my cannon slr not a phone
for video I use a video camera
a phone will never be able to do everything, what seems to be happening is that they can now do anything and everything but none of them properly

ive just been into O2 to see what deals they do as been with them for yrs and they said they wont be doing the N97 so i said they have it over the vodaphone shop they didnt even try n push another phone to keep me with O2 which i thought they woulod like to keep my custom, ar well thought wrong

voda phone offered free txt...free internet...free land line calls....and shit loads of free any net work calls for £45 ..dont seem a bad deal me thinks with the phone coming free aswell...on the down side 24 mth contract tho

one question does that mean i cant get an upgrade to a new phone for 24 mths as never found a phone to last that long

Its all a matter of convenience Tony.
When your broke down in some festering old car that couldn't take another bar of boost, its nice to be able to browse the internet while Will is trying to fix it in the rain.

When your baby girl takes her first play on the swings at the park its great to be able to film it with DVD quality, or take a picture of her at 5mp.

If I am awaiting an important E-Mail from a lawyer or my mortgage adviser but I have to leave for a long journey its nice to know I can retrieve it on my phone in the car.

If I am lost in a car with no sat nav, its nice to just fire up the free service on my phone, enable voice guidance, and listen to the nice lady direct me to my destination.

If I am planning a break away, its nice to be able to grab a weather report from my phones home screen by clicking the world traveller Icon. or grab the local £-$ exchange rate, or see the time in CA. (Handy for me as I ET paid in Dollars by IB and their head office is in California)

Need a speed nap, just set the phone to wake you with an alarm in an hour.

Remember something at home that you really need to do at work tomorrow? Set a reminder to go off tomorrow with full details of what it is. (I do about 5 of these every single day of the week)

Calls? What the hell are they?! I never use a phone to speak to people, what a waste of valuable time. LOL

Things are changing mate... and at a fast rate of knotts!

I find that calls can be far more efficient than 32 emails going back to and fro to tell him the plug gap or the fact that's 18 quid delivered mate bye

bm08 this is a thread about n97 take your old n95 and shove it where the sun dont shine. You really annoy me with every post you make! And its not possible to ignore you as you post mindless drivel everywhere!

Anyway..... N97 brilliant phone so far. Few bugs but noting too bad... Just waiting for vodaphone to release the latest firmware!

A word of warning if your thinking of debranding do a google search as it buggeres up the phone.... Especially on vodaphone.... Lots of people wrecked there phones doing it..... But i think they have now found a way round it. But a risk im not prepared to take!

nokia will always be the market leader, lets not forget HTC either, they did beat apple to the first touchscreen device, take apple logo of the iphone and see how many they sell,

ive had the iphone soon as it was released, was very disappointed with it. havnt played with new 3gs, but face it not really that much improvement over the 3g ?

ive always gone back to nokia, and i dont think im the only one. my 2p worth
