Of course i wouldnt be happy if a cat scatched my car (and it has happened to me before), but i wouldnt go round and ask the owner to tell the cat not to do it again. And i certainly wouldnt poisen it, beat it up, or kidnap it either. So what would you suggest that the owner does? Ground the cat? No toys for week?

either train it, or take responsibility for what it does.........

what do you think about the pet snake who strangled the two year old this week? Is the owner blameless and not responsible?

Training a cat to not jump on things is the funniest thing ive heard on this thread.

Regarding the snake and 2 year old, i dont know what happened here (although you cant really compare a scratched car to this), but id say the owner is partly responsible of course for letting it get out, but thats a snake that shouldnt be allowed out as its obviously capable of killing (which it has ), so its not a good example at all mate.

Cats are harmless, but just dump in your flowers and scratch your car. Im not saying the owners shouldnt be responsible for them at all. Im all for the owners cleaning it up every now and then if they are asked in the right manner. But a shit in a garden or a scratched car is not a reason to hurt or kill one. That is my whole and only point which many people, unfortunatly and worryingly, disagree with.

we trained ours not to jump on the worktop, quite easy really every time she jumped up she got shoved off firmly took a while but we persevered and she learned (poor example i know but they can be trained)

practically any animal can be trained to do what you want it do within reason with patience and understanding

get real fella all people are trying to say is they are pissed off with the owners in the end,i honestley dont think anyone would harm a cat when the crunch came

i get the feeling cats are as sacred to you as cows are to indians

they are pets as has been said and as such the owner at the end of the day is responsible for them like it or not

Well it would never have happened if the owner had hired a PF wild animal hunter to turn up with a sponge, some anti-freeze and a washing line in his back pocket. God help them if they went to the zoo, they'd leave many different species extinct.

I agree of course the owners are responsible for them as ive said, but as ive also said, theres only so much the owner can do. Yes you can teach them to not jump up on the sides when your there, but you wont be able to teach them not to jump up on cars when your not there. There not as clever as dogs in that sense. They will do as they please. I dont own cats, but im sure any decent cat owner would gladly go round and pick the shit up if its 100% their cat that is doing it. Thats my whole point, these big hard cowards that 'say' they would or have hurt cats over things like this! Its just pathetic! Its these people that need serious help. Now im sure most wouldnt actually do it, but if they do, then shame on them. In fact, even if they wouldnt do it, its just as bad saying they would.

I have trained all the local cats not to jump on my car or come in my garden, once they have a rock thrown at them or a pellet fired their way, they learn very quickly. They are very well trained aswell,as if they see me within 50 yds of them now, they run like fuck

Exactly mate. If a cat wants to jump on a car or anything for that matter, it will. Why cant people understand this?

A cat wont think, 'ooooo i really want to jump on this car but i know my owner has taught me not too, i might get a bollocking, oh sod it, ill do it anyway'. If people really think they can train a cat not to jump on cars when they are not there, then there just as daft as the plonkers that harm them.

Why buy an animal that fucks up your neighbours gardens, spread disease and can scratch the crap out of their cars in the first place ?

Perhaps it's because cat owners are selfish ignorant cunts?

I've never disagreed that people shouldn't harm them, the point you so clearly miss though is that most owners are selfish cunts and have little regard for their neighbours who even if asked politely still do fuck all. Must be nice seeing the world through those rose tinted glasses you have!

Pretty fucking simple really you move them off often enough they won't go on there. Do you not think the muddy fucking footprints on my car bonnet would be a giveaway that it had been on my car or hairs on the worktop??? Or does it wipe its feet first to outsmart me or only do it on dry days?!?!?!?!?!?

My cats used to come in to use the litter tray too, fuck me i must have had some genius cats to be able to train them to shit in a specific spot and to not climb on cars and worktops.

Looks to me like you have even less understanding of cats than you do of wild rabbits you got all revved up over that too!!!! Your arguments appear to be based on assumption alone tbh.

As I type right now one of my Cats is rubbing his head against my arm, as he would like some effection, so there is one. Secondly, when I am ill in bed Cleo always comes up and gives me attention. Also, if I walk down the local shops he follows me and waits outside, and then follows me home again. He has a ball and I throw it and he jumps up and smacks it with his paw, like a goalkeeper. When I wash my car he comes in and chills on the dash board, while I wash it. Sometimes in the winter when it's cold they both come under the duvet, taking up all the space and leaving me with no room at all. Cats are very clever, more so than Dogs in many ways.

Do you wan't anymore? What the fuck does a Bunny do, or a Fish, or most pets for that matter. They show you love, warmth and can cheer you up when no-one else can.

How can the owners of these cats stop them going where they want too? They cant, so dont blame the owners either. Its life. If you dont want your kids picking it up (although as said, no doubt we've all picked it up when kids and we're still here), then make sure your gardens fit for them beofre letting them out in it. Or better still, keep an eye on them. Its not that difficult.

And anyone who would even seriously consider taking a cat away from its family and dumping it miles away, is just total scum and will get what they deserve at some stage in life.

If all these people have to worry about in life is a bit of cat shit or a cat wandering around your property, then you you to take a long hard look at yourself. Put things into perspective for gods sake!

Anyway, rant over.
Totally agree with that mate

We've got 3 cats which are mainly indoor cats, we let them out in the back garden and keep an eye on them to make sure they aren't wandering off anywhere. They don't poo anywhere but in the litter trays because that's what they've been used to since they were kittens.

I seriously can't believe that a adult person would rather poison/shoot/whatever a cat or any animal for that matter than pick up a bit of poo!

Or even joke about it just to make themselves look "hard" on a forum!

Get a grip you losers!!

If i had a pet that damaged someone elses property no way would I say " tough shit you have to live with it " to them.

Its fucking selfish and wrong

We used to have a problem with a neighbours cat. Fucking thing would catch birds or mice during the night and then jump up onto one of our cars and disect it on the roof, letting all the inards and shit slide down the windscreen. This went on nearly every night for months. First thing my wife had to do every morning before she set of for work was clean the remains of some animal off of her car. Paintwork was getting scratched as well, also the thing was using the car ariel as a scratching post and would be covered in cat hair and the paint at the base was scratched to fuck.

Took us a while to figure out what was doing it, initially I thought it was maybe a larger bird as there was fields and woodland behind our house and owls, buzzards and things are quite common. Was only when we seen the hair on the ariel I figured it was a cat. Eventually one night when I was walking back from the pub I saw it on the roof from the end of the road.

Went round to the guys house the next day and told him, he shrugged his shoulders and shut the door, went down to the police station to see where I stood and was told that if it was causing a nuisance and I could prove the ownership I could make a formal complaint. I left it and went back round the guys house. Told him that every day until he did something about it I would bring my dog, my mums dog and any other dogs I could round up round his house and let them shit on his front grass. He didn't take to kindly to that and we nearly ended up boxing. His wife then came out and spoke to me and I took her over to show her my wifes car, told her that her pet was damaging my property and I wanted something done about it.

To be fair to that woman, she got up every morning and cleaned my wifes car if the cat had got something through the night. Don't know what the woman done but eventually it stopped and the woman paid for the damage to the car. (Obviously I got my mate to do it and over quote)

In my opinion it is the owners social responsibility to clean up after their pets if they are causing a nuisance to other people. So I would go round the owners house and have a word.

FAO Lee Reynolds and any selfish cat owners who take no responsibility

I refer you to the animal act of 1971 and the Common law duty of Care (Page 4)
