Default Scrapping a car shell

Have finally gotten the last few bits out of a rotten Corsa GSi, am now left with a non-rolling shell which needs moving out of a garage and off to a scrap dealer who will give it the fitting goodbye it deserves............

Has anybody ever dealt with getting a non-rolling shell off and scrapped? I might be able to borrow a flatbed van (Transit/Vivaro) and a few mates from work but I can't rely on that. I also thought about taking a cutting disc to it and chopping it into pieces to take but what about breaking glass and stuff like that? What are the best places to cut a car into 'manageable bitesize chunks'

Anybody any thoughts? It's on axle stands at the moment so not like I'm going to get a load of compo claims for dead backs from people lifting it......despite all the engine and gearbox, running gear, interior and suspension being out/off of it it still weighs a fair bit!!! Quite suprising seeing as it's made of rust!

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Borrow your mates flatbed / pickup, bust the glass out of it (handy if you have a broom to sweep it up) then chop the shell up with a 9" disc cutter.

You'll soon have it loaded onto the pick up and off to the scrap dealers.

Easier than man handling a heavy rusty shell mate

Ring a scrapyard, they normally collect. I put a range rover shell on a flatbed yesterday, just attach winch + pull it on.

Failing that, chop it up.

I've done the same a few times. Remove the glass without breaking it, then stihl saw, or my favourite burning gear. Whip off from bulkhead forward, and quarter the rest. Job jobbed

Yeh or do that. We get local gyppos who'll do it all for you too occasionally

Ringing the local scrapyard was going to be my last option for the simple reason that I'll get absolutely cock all for the shell money wise! I know scrapy metal values aren't what they were 12 months ago when they were at silly values BUT I know 1/2 - 3/4 tonne of scrap metal (plus whatever else I can get my hands on out of our scrap metal bins which are overflowing!) is going to be worth the effort to get it to a scrap metal dealer myself.

Might see if I can lay my hands on a 9" cutting saw, I've only got a small-ish angle grinder with a cutting wheel on it!

get a few mates round, there wont be that much weight in it, we've lifted a few dead 205 shells onto the trailer before fairly easily with about 5 of us.

Search the net for scrap car collectors in your area, phone them all up, and ask if they can take a car with no wheels (many do) and they will just turn up with a cherry picker and take it away.

To get it down your driveway, either use some workshop dollies, or stick some castor wheels on the jacking points, works for me.
