Anyone on here go diving?
Hi
This is something I've been wanting to try for a while now so I think I might give it a go
How did you get into it?
Any tips?
Thanks

Scuba diving is all good.
Tips: forget learning in this country, it takes ages and its freezing cold and not reliable. Save it for when you are in a hot country and sit your padi open water over a 3 to 4 day full tim stint. Ace fun and something that you will always try and do which ever country you holiday in.
Good luck - and also good luck with any muff diving opportunities too lol

I used to do a lot of Diving and still do a little now, it is great fun do PADI and do it in a hot country, take it seriously when you are learning because it is a dangerous sport and the reprecussion of fucking about are serious.
I dived for work so got in to it that way, it is not a cheap sport if you buy your own gear but like everything you get what you pay for,.

PADI is the accredited body from which you gain diving qualifications there is also SSI both are equal and interchangeable you will need a qualification in order to go on dives the course you will go on first is the open water course which qualifies you to 20 meters after that you can do others like advanced, night and wreck diving etc try your local place they will be valuable help, it's alright doing it abroad but you will want to do it here after and your local place will know what ahen and where plus most of the places abroad are what we would call dive factories just churning out badly trained dangerous tourists ENJOY

Ideal where you are mate, Puffin dive centre close by and the Breada on your doorstep, you've some other cracking dive sights in the sound of Mull too.
You'll likely want to do your wreck diver in addition to your Padi Open water, get out and into the wrecks.

The PADI Nitrox course is about 5 hours long and Ł90, it's all classroom based calculations, planning etc... no pool action at all. It's going to be one of the first speciality dives i choose to do.

Nitrox is 100% worth doing it is a far safer gas to dive the after effects are better you feel less fatigue after the dive.
Diving to say 130ft on Nitrox is the equivilent to diving to 90ft on air so the partial pressure is alot less.
It does not allow you to go deeper it simply allows you to stay at a given depth for longer.
I suggest it to everybody that is serious about there diving. you can get alot longer at the bottom so more bottom time for your money, you will pay slightly more for the tank fills but only marginally.
If you have your own equipment it should really be O2 compatible and you have to use O2 compatible "o" rings etc and likewise if you have a computer it needs to be able to calculate nitrox percentages.
In short well worth doing, l have been diving it for 8 years and have taken it to accelerated decompression diving and it has a major effect in that.
With regards a PF dive trip, Scapa Floe July/August l would be up for it at the moment an entire German fleet scuppered at 130ft in cold clear water, perfect
