The longest part is doing the Shift + restore part to load the custom firmware. This can sometimes take ages, sometimes not...

Whilst on the subject of iphones, the volume on mine is getting quieter and quieter and i'm sure the speaker and mic holes at the bottom are filling up with 'fluff' out of my pockets Have you seen a detailed strip down of one of these as it looks sealed to me, need to clean it/ defluff it as its bugging me LOL  ??cheeRS fella

to be honest, I've not ever looked for one - mainly cos I'd probably never attempt stripping one. I've heard horror stories about people that have and I just wouldn't wanna try it myself. I stripped my iPod (video) once and that wasn't too straight forward...
You could try a small pin or needle to clear the speaker & mic "vents" but be careful not to push too far incase you actually hit the speaker and pierce it!

Have you tried the hotmail app? Go to the app store and search hotmail. . .it will cost you Ł5.99 but at least you will have it. I use it!! lot more simple way of getting it.

I think i fcuked up! I did EVERYTHING!!!! Then at the end when i need to restore to get all my apps back etc etc it did it, but theres still nothing there! And i have NO signal NO nothing!!! But at least i can see Sydia there! HELP!

Ria, when you reconnected to itunes after doing the jailbreak, you should have been given the option to set up the phone as a new phone or continue with the old settings. Which did you choose?
To get your stuff back on it, go to iTunes and plug in your phone. When you see it in the left pane, right click on it and select RESTORE FROM BACK UP. You should get a list open and be able to choose a date and time back up to restore from. This should bring back all your apps, contacts, etc etc.

Right so you have photo's but no music and no videos... Do you have contacts? If music and video's are in your itunes, you can resync them to the phone by just doing a sync.
I'm more worried about your lack of signal.. Did you defintely activate the phone in itunes?

the only option its giving me is to restore from 19.17 it hasnt got the sync i did at 18.35??? The apps dont worry me so much as i can get them back, its just i have no signal!!! i cant call or anything

Right, so you have contacts, photo's, no music, no video's and no apps.
So far it's okay - you can sync the music and video's and apps no problem. As said I'm a little concerned about the lack of signal! I don't know why it should do this. Sounds like the phone has not been activated. When you go into iTunes and (left) click on your phone - what info do you get?
