i have a escort mk4 1.4 L i went to pop the bonnet and i think the cable has come off from the bonnet catch i cant get to it is there any easy way to get to the catch or open the bonnet thanks gav

get a pair of long nose pliars and lie on the floor and reach up behind the bumper to the slam panel and u will be able to push the release catch over and the bonnet will open, dont do this whilst the engine is warm as u will burn yourself and watch out for the starter motor

as said,jack the car up as high as you can,or put it on a lift,
you can then reach the part the cable attatches too from underneath.
