photography competition idea

hows about we have a competition say every fortnightly, where a subject is picked (by the winner of the last competition or for the first time by me lol) and we have 2 weeks to post our favorite, but only one photo each?
just not really sure how to judge it as i know this place owuld never come to an agreement LOL
subjects could be general like "sea side/water" or much more narrow like flower or bridges

what you think?

and i gotta say ive only just read the photogallery and frogs and cosrush write ups are AMAZING!!!!

as long as it doesn't come down to quality of the photo. there are guys on here who have a few quids worth of gear, and i have an N95..

I'd be up for that, maybe a catagory for different types of cams? slr, compacts etc..

Am lucky enough to see this in the morning in work..

it would be easy to judge, you would have say 7 days days to submit your pictures, and then 7 days to vote on a poll style

1 vote per perso, all photo's to be submitted to a Mod to post then at the end the winner is declared. Good idea???

I am so up for this, haven't stretched the 30D to it's limits yet let alone the 70-200 L series lens(yet to use it at all!)

We need a theme of some sort thats for sure.

i dont think we should seperate dlr's and compacts as they both can produce amazing photos!

Im quite happy to have the photos submitted to me... but i dont think we should keep it to the photography room, as there are members on here that like to see the good pictures, but dont necessarily have an interest in that room! we could make it a sticky in here.

all well and good but the trouble is i disagree with photoshop and alot dont.

to me it should be "you take a good photo" not "make a good photo"

anyone who has the vision to see a good pic or a differnt pic and can take it well is far far better than someone who takes a picture and then cleans it up or removes bad bits they didnt see first.

but you cannot tell who has photoshoped and who hasnt
