the only problem with cctv is if it just records and you have somthing well worth nicking, theving bastards just pop a bally on and don't care about cameras.
the covert ones that they can't be seen fool theives, but magistrates let them off
if they get caught after a positive id

I think it's more a case of violent and abusive neighbours. He keeps it council so nothing worth stealing.

I bought some camera's and a hard drive recorder when i was having trouble on a site i was working at. I had a friend in the business who supplied me 2 sony lens night vision capable camera's and all the cabling and a power supply for £110 and i bought a 4 way hard drive recorder from maplins for £150 (half price in the sale). I installed it myself but it worked brilliantly so your estimates do sound excessive in my opinion as it can be done DIY if you have some knowledge.

Me and 2 mates sat in the back room one friday night glued to the monitor waiting for any unsuspecting vandals to appear. Down in st mary cray near star lane, notorious to anybody from bromley way...

Not a single person walked past....

Once i had the camera's installed didnt' have any more trouble either
