boost cut out at high rpm ??
Hi,
I have a s2 erst which used to run 20psi, I had the boost turned up last week to about 24psi but I now get a kind of 'boost cut out' at high rpm (5500 ish). It has a motorsport developments chip installed so in theory there shouldn't be a limit. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing it ?
cheers, Duncan

It allready has a samco boost hose fitted with 3 jubilee clips around it to keep the shape so I doubt its that. It also has a 5th injector so I know there is plenty of fuel. I'm going to lower the boost by a few psi tommorow and see if that has any affect on it. Anyone else any ideas, could it be soemthing to do with the cam

also out of curioscity, why did you increase the boost from 20psi to 24psi? was this done by a professional and checked afterwards? did they not notice the fact that it wouldnt flow enuf air at high RPM?

It was done by a professional on a rolling road and all the fueling was checked etc.. The samco hose I have is the one from metering head to turbo so I'm pretty sure its not collapsing. The car should be able to flow that amount of air as it has a stage 3 turbo & stage 3 head !
I was thinking that out on the open road due to the lower ACT's the boost maybee hitting a little more than what it was set at I will try turning the boost down a couple of psi and see if that makes any difference.

just checking... wanted to make sure it wasn't something "your mate dave" did coz ive seen that happen 1 too many times (quickly followed by a molten engine)
well as stu said theres NO overboost in your chip so its something mechanically wrong...

on sunday the local garage used my car to test out some new fuel equipment under heavy load, I spoke to the guy who drove it just a minute ago and he seems to think it was like an 'ignition cut' and it didn't do it all the time. Anyone any more ideas, cars really pissing me off at the moment, gotta do the headgasket at the weekend as well

an auto-electrician is coming tommorow to sort out my immobiliser so I was thinking I could ask him to check a few bits such as the chip connections etc... Can anybody suggest any other things he could check that would cause a misfire if faulty ?
cheers, Duncan
