Default Idle Speed Valve - I4 Engine (RS2000)/Fuel Problems

Evening...

Friend of mine, has a just bought a New Idle speed valve dure to poor idling. Question is, do you just plug these inn & job done or is there some thing else we need to do?

Also, it is shit on fuel. Get about 30 miles to a tenner just cruising. You can smell the fuel badly. Any idea's to where we should be looking?

the o-rings on the injectors go hard and distort which could give you your poor idle, did the car cut out when you pulled the plug on the iscv,if it kept on running then you have an air leak and the smell of petrol is because of the o-rings not seeling,it is a common fault and i have replaced the o-rings on mine and no more rough idle or petrol smell, you cant buy the o-rings from ford anymore so i got mine from B&Q doubled them up put a bit of silicone grease on them and it did the job,you will need 8 B&Q o-rings to replace the 4 ford ones,i think they are a 14mm internal diameter

Could have dropped into LOS because of a failed sensor? I'm told the regular gunson-type fault finders don't work on the RS ECU like they would on other I4 engines but could be worth getting it on a diagnostic tester?
